What did you do in the garden today?

May reach 90 degrees today. Heat returns for about a week or more. I tested another Dunja zuke due to no male flowers about a week ago. Rotted so another out of the 5 plants failed. I will try Burpees sure thing next year. Going back to sweet success cucumber next year. Got hard to find seed but found a source.

Here’s a question. When you compost your garden do you till it in or just spread it on top? I’ve done it both ways and am curious about what is considered the best way.

I plan to just dump it on. from some videos I’ve seen no-till seems to be slightly better but it is pretty minimal of a difference. But it is also easier

I'm going to use a couple pounds of onions and shallots and some habanero peppers today making this spicy cranberry salsa recipe. I have three bags of cranberries in the freezer from the 2023 holiday season that I need to use for something.

Checked the Gloriosa daisy seeds and they are up. Instructions said cold stratify. Not needed. Something got my ripe tomatoes. I found a partial one. There were only a few.

Melon leaves are looking stressed and yellowing in places. I think it’s been the night temps - which have occasionally dipped below 50. We’re supposed to have slightly warmer weather the next few days, they pull through!

I got a dozen half pints of the spicy cranberry "salsa" processed and cooling on the countertop. I wouldn't call it a salsa, it's more like a sweet, savory jam. It was a good way to use those old frozen cranberries.
