What did you do in the garden today?

Yes it is. My best guess is that it's Russian Red garlic.
Your best guess is better than anything I could come up with. We got our garlic from a family member a few years back and all anyone knows for sure is that its hardneck, the givers probably know but are keeping it secret from us.

A brown chick hatched last night, and I finally got an unfertile egg. I have one egg left on lock down. I feel sorry for the little brown guy because I see the bigger yellow chicks bulling him. I am not sure if it's part of the pecking order process or because of his color, but I couldn't take it. I hit the guy who pecked him with a chop stick and kept hitting whoever else that bit him. I think it's working. Nope it's not, I think it's the pecking order thing. Oh well, now I feel like a terrorist.
The bigger chicks stopped pecking the little brown chick after they assigned him a feeding number. I will add a long type of feeder today, to ease the tension.

We got our soil analysis back! We're in the desert so we don't have topsoil, just sandy dirt over layers of natural concrete called caliche. Not good for growing stuff.

For the past three years we've been adding soil, fertilizer, organic material, etc. Considering what we started with, the results were better than I expected although some of those values are REALLY high and we need to add boron.

Where did you have it done?

I planted soaked garlic yesterday and carefully marked each variety with flags. Then I leveled the ground. Leaving the pitchfork upright in the ground.
This morning I came out to this 😱 with racoons tracks.
First year I soaked the garlic

To me that would cause imminent gunfire.

Greedy little buggers.

I have been culling since covid, over 150 in the last 5 years.
Stupid neighbors like to watch so they put out corn.... When the food is gone they come down to check out the poultry buffet 😞
