What did you do in the garden today?

Four chicks hatched. A fifth was stuck in zip mode for 2 days. Shrink wrapped. I had to assist. It's currently still alive. We'll see if he/she makes it... 🤞🙏🤞🙏

Going to get a freeze this weekend. Tomatoes have 4 days to get their act together and decide if they are going to ripen in time...

So much to do before it gets cold. Ugh... I wish it wasn't dark before I even get home from work.

Still working on mulching the flower beds, they will not be done anytime soon. Leaves haven't even fallen yet, but temps are dropping to the 20s soon. Usually I have the leaves shredded and all the beds tucked in already. This is weird. Dug up a small tomato bush (only gets 3 ft. tall), potted it up and set it under grow lights in spare room. Already have lettuce, mustard, chard, and radishes growing in there. If all goes well I might have some nice salads throughout winter.

just a old metal nest box and cage wire is 1/2 inch mesh hardware.

thank you. I have metal nest boxes but I am thinking of making a bigger wood boxes where they can sleep or hide when it is cold. I have made a base for the cage in the duck coop. I will use 1/2 in mesh hardware too.

I just didn't want her being a foxes dinner. Trying to integrate a single pullet in cold weather doesn't sound easy. I guess time will tell. And always need more exercise! :)

put her with the others at night and in the morning your other chickens will not chase her too much or at all. has always worked for me.
