So, what were your Gramma's requirements for dandelion collection? I'd kinda like to try that. Of course, that's totally reliant on the actual arrival of Spring around here, which at the moment does not look like it's in Mother Nature's plan ...Mine made wilted dandelion salad the same way. I collected the dandelion once.
Don't know about his grandma but I like dandelion greens in my salad. Young fresh greens. the bigger and older they get the more bitter they are.So, what were your Gramma's requirements for dandelion collection? I'd kinda like to try that. That's pretty much exactly what my Mom and Grandma wisdom was. (Grandma was born in the 1800s so this is very old knowledge) Spring tonic = young leaves. Summer flowers= wine. Late summer/autumn when the plants energy goes back into the roots = tea component.Don't know about his grandma but I like dandelion greens in my salad. Edited to add that the yellow petals make a nice dandelion wine, and the roots can be used to make a tea for liver detox. Make sure to pick where you know that no chemicals have been used. Your own yard is always best.

My yard is probably not the best option. It gets "christened" regularly by a very big dog ... mine!Don't know about his grandma but I like dandelion greens in my salad. Young fresh greens. the bigger and older they get the more bitter they are.
