What did you do in the garden today?

Mine made wilted dandelion salad the same way. I collected the dandelion once.
So, what were your Gramma's requirements for dandelion collection? I'd kinda like to try that. Of course, that's totally reliant on the actual arrival of Spring around here, which at the moment does not look like it's in Mother Nature's plan ...

Don't know about his grandma but I like dandelion greens in my salad. Young fresh greens. the bigger and older they get the more bitter they are.
Edited to add that the yellow petals make a nice dandelion wine, and the roots can be used to make a tea for liver detox. Make sure to pick where you know that no chemicals have been used. Your own yard is always best.

That's pretty much exactly what my Mom and Grandma wisdom was. (Grandma was born in the 1800s so this is very old knowledge) Spring tonic = young leaves. Summer flowers= wine. Late summer/autumn when the plants energy goes back into the roots = tea component.

Her requirement at the time was that I, as a kid, go out in the yard and dig up weeds.

60* today, sun shining. So wonderful, hard to remember there was 6" of ice out there just a week or so ago. Rebuilt the fountain with a new pump and restacking the rocks, looks great and all the critters will like having their outdoor water source running again. Chickens, dog, cats, butterflies, bees, they all love it. Pulled some weeds, anything to be outside working on a gorgeous day.

My seed tray was left for dead and something sprouted. It could be a pepper plant I planted a few months ago. This is now my baby..:love

My yard is probably not the best option. It gets "christened" regularly by a very big dog ... mine!

Well... I noticed my fruit trees are still dormant but with all this warm weather in the 60s and 70s, it's only a matter of days (likely) before they start coming out. I still need to prune everything and spray with dormant oil. Of course it's supposed to rain all weekend. We need it so I won't complain but now I'm praying I don't get behind the 8 ball on disease and pest management. 😐
