What did you do with your flock today?

Definitely no spiders! 🤣 I tend to wear dresses most of the time...they keep me cooler in our heat. But maybe it's time to give jeans another try. Nah...I'm sweating just thinking about it! 😂 But I am wearing gloves these days! And I'll never sit in the dirt again I think!

The timid ones do seem to always end up sweethearts don't they? Bet Aria's part of why he likes indoors...company that doesn't peck him, gentle hands and lots of treats I'm betting!

Is everything drying up nice there now? Can't wait to see the ez frame build finished 🤩
Haha, good! I can't imagine wearing dresses while doing yard work! You are a brave soul :D Don't you have snakes down there too? Haha, clearly I am not as brave :lau But I can say that jeans in your desert heat is AWFUL. Sooo, not sure what I would do! Haha.

The timid ones seem to always be the favorites...and in my case also the most likely to die :p Sighhh, so I cringe when they get even a sniffle!

Yes, the forescast is just beautiful this week!! Today, high of 79!!! And sunny and low 70s for the next 10 days! Woohoo! My unaclimated chickens were all panting yesterday around 4 pm in the heat of the afternoon! It was 77 haha...just wait till July ladies!! I cannot wait to finish my EZ coop too. The runs arrive today, so it should help give us the kick in the pants we need to finish up! I hope! :)

March 13th was national nap day. Can we claim a raincheck if we missed it? Seems like a better idea to stagger that day out anyways as does not seem like a great idea having the whole nation taking a nap on the same day... or does it? 🤔
Well, I hope you got your nap in this holiday weekend 😴 and feel fresh to conquer the coming week.
I can't believe I missed it!! I definitely need a raincheck and wanna cash in today, I am still very tired!

How was mom's... besides exhausting with bad pillows and lumpy mattresses (the worst). Yes, remember when I could sleep on the floor just fine. Hurts to even think of it now.
I'm kinda thinking maybe we should have an official nap day every week. Who's in?

Last eve the mosquitos were waaay less. Sure I knocked a few hundred out with sticky traps but think it mostly had to do with my son mowing his long grass. Whatever, I was grateful- sure the chooks were super stoked too!! Lots of big moths on the sticky tape today. Pricey zapper, eh. Hoping cheap ones that come tomorrow are as good as their reviews.

16 eggs yesterday and 17 the day b4.

Koke'e boy goes to his new person today. And I get to sit in a docs office after doing a vehicle pick up at the airport.

Gunna miss my chickens today. Weather is terrific and I need to sew. Guess tomorrow ♡

🤔💡 I remember I had to rig my machine so it would handle the first poly thread I used. It was awful but once I routed spool to wind around bobbin winder first and then thread through normally it worked like a charm. I did have to use a lot of patience and perseverance. When I found my first monofilament I was able to thread normally. Now I use a #25 monofilament and like it plenty. I also had to learn to slow down as it will loop on me if I pull it.
Try oil your machine @FBMcrazy8 maybe it will feed better. Recheck how you are threading your machine and is your bobbin wound well? What brand machine do you have? I have a Brothers.
5 Bucks is impressive! g-pa spending $150 makes for a better story (it was probably more like $75 but as the years went by became more 🤣🤣🤣) I personally don't like when people retell stories (over and over 🙄...) but it obviously works for them. My dh-s family likes to talk a lot about not much at all. It is like an anxiety thing. Like if they don't get it out of their head they will pop. Not so much fun for the other party especially me. I don't come from chatty people. Well, someone has to listen but I find I mostly try to avoid. Another good reason to keep chickens.
Mine is a brothers as well. It was just bought last year brand spanking new. I may have to just recheck the needle. I know the thread is good because I redid that a few times. I may even take it to my mom to look at. Anyone else that sews in the family has passed away.

I’m sure the number did go up. My grandpa was alive at the time to argue the point. But my grandpa was 50 when he had my mom and so she was spoiled rotten. When my mom married my dad she didn’t know the first thing about cooking or cleaning cause she wasn’t made to and wasn’t allowed in the kitchen.

It was a nice visit! We spent all day Wednesday in our pajamas catching up on things and taking naps :D Thursday I spent some time getting a pedicure with my sister while my Mom took Aria to the movies, and then I met up with my best girl friends at a wine bar to catch up with them. We haven't seen each other in 2 years and a LOT has happened since the last time! Time with quality people/friends is significantly underrated in healing the soul. Seeing them and catching up and venting about life was so cathartic and way too short of a visit!! So worth the exhaustion! Nap Day every week sounds AMAZING!

Try redo thread and bobbin same time, same thread. I have my tension @3 but was fine at 2, also regular settings.

Love that there's a day for napping!

Well...I wear steel toed, all leather construction work boots with my dresses a lot of the time 🤣🤣🤣 Thank God dear hubby doesn't care if I look fashionable! Comfy and probably snake safe 🤞
Glad the weather's nice for you there finally! Here too...it won't be long and I'll be crying about the heat I think 😂

Yay for less pesty mosquitoes and a new home for Koke'e boy! Bet whoever's getting him will enjoy such a handsome roo.

Reminds me of my mother in law telling me why she liked her newest grand-daughter in law... because she seemed comfortable in the kitchen 😂 I do wonder what she had to say about me all those years ago 🤔

That sounds like such a lovely time!

The fellow that gave me Java showed up today wanting to know if I had any peas for sale. He was so tickled to see I still have Java. Turns out his female died. So he wants to bring his male Java here tomorrow and have me breed them and split the babies with him. I get to keep the boy too and he'll get a couple extra babies ❤️.

So this evening I ran around rearranging birds so the Java pair can have the pea area to themselves. She's very wild and betting he will be too. Figured it's best not to move her in case it throws her off for laying. So all the other peas got moved instead.

A little nervous about having his boy but excited too. He's ok with me vaccinating him for myco just to be sure. My peas are still myco free and no illness anywhere...but a part of me's still nervous. 🤞 for a good laying season, a good hatch and no problems.
