What did you do with your flock today?

It is my first Expo as a vendor!! I am excited, but nervous! I am worried my ladies have been too stressed by the rat issues to accept fertilization! Guess I will see...I lost a roo to the rats and a hen and one other is still pretty mangled and gimpy :(. I am really enjoying it though--even if it is stressing me out! :D
Well, one foot infront of the other. You can always have a refund or replacement guarantee? 🤷‍♀️ Do get photos of your stand ♡. SUPER cool!!!

Then kill the sh*t outta those darn rats!! They are soooo rotten! BAD rats! Bad, bad, bad rats.

I will! :D I am thinking about offering coupons for later in the season--if I only have 20-30 quail and some of the chicken eggs...and sell out I could do a 2 for 1 sale or something if they come back to me later. Will depend on how sales go!

Yeah the rats have really made my life miserable lately!! GRR. I found some eco-friendly rat poison that won't kill things that eat them (corn meal and baking soda mix), so I'm hoping that has some success too. The traps are working periodically, but not completely. They seem to have learned quickly and now avoid them! I wish that wasn't the case because the traps feel more humane and I hate doing things that cause pain and suffering...but my Earl the Pearl was taken and missing his head and that image was enough to bring on the poison. I also dug out the soil in their pen and laid another layer of hardware cloth and covered them with bricks and then reburied them--and poured the poison in the holes they'd made...so hopefully those that survived feel a bit safer now. I am so sad and carry a lot of guilt :( Earl was just a super sweet roo and I feel so bad his life ended so horribly :(. But it is the life of an owner of prey animals I am learning...never really gets easier though. This sweet girl came to greet me when I brought them treats the other day. She’s so sweet 😍.

When I lost Mr Biggles I always imagined he died in service to the girls and the flock he loved. Getting in the way to be the one to be sacrificed. It is the rooster way. It makes me think that he had the death he expected and his offspring had a chance to live on.
Not 🙈 looking 🙈🙈 at 🙈 your 🙈 quail 🙈🙈🙈🙊💕

Terrific day! Sunny, warm & breezy. Girls wandered all day till 6pm. I deep watered a few palms so the chooks could step in puddles and look for bugs, emptied 1 compost bin and tossed out some BIG bugs for the gang 🪳, then Manono hung back with me this eve so I grabbed some fresh mealworms as a needed protien bonus for her. My little special cutie.View attachment 3470643

Also sewed the heck outta bags. 6 finished and 4 washed and started, just gotta put them together and sew. Realized I am close to making $1,000 for my nonprofits! That feels terrific and forward, also sewed two new styles and that always makes my toes wiggle.View attachment 3470638View attachment 3470639

WE HAVE THE SAME CARRIER FOR EGGS BEHIND THE WOOD ONE

Just received a lovely gift from @TropicalBabies ! You are amazing lady! Those bags are to die for. They look so professional and I love the little pocket inside. These would pass my mom's inspection for quality and that's not easy!
Anyhow, just wanted to share. Thank you so much! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Welp. Thanks for the awesome bags you sent! I think they are all sewn and in stands now! 😂 I'll have to check see if I have any stragglers as I love to sew new bags to light my fire.
Glad mom would approve 😬 scary lol

I’m so sorry 😢. I’m glad you went to poison, more after that than anything. That is just horrible!

Your little girl is just so pretty!!!
