Yesterday I saw Clara pull an earthworm longer than she is out of one of my bay tree pots and swallow in two gulps. How she fit anything else in her crop, I'll never know!I treated mine again today with a big clump of dandelion and grass. The dandelion leaves disappeared in minutes. They'll flip the clump over eventually and start eating the dirt, and maybe find a worm or two in the process.
Also refilled their granite grit bowl. They dig the grit. HAHAHAHAHA!

Gorgeous!Today again I took Sweety out and let her peck around in the Barn lot. She mostly stayed around me till it was time to go in.This time I took a pic of her. View attachment 3489738
Oh wow! What a beautiful snake! We have a grass snake which visits our pond occasionally to catch frogs. It's a rare thing to have so far North. The only snakes we normally get in the North are adders, our only venomous snake.Got the roof on my last coops and runs finally. Thanks to my oldest kids amazing help. Have to clean everything up, add a little hardware cloth here and there, then add roosts and nest boxes. Should be 100% ready in time for the Hamburgs to move into. View attachment 3489838
Had a king snake visit us while we were working. Stepped into the garden and saw it warming itself on the flagstones. Love how relaxed the kings are and the unusual white color spot on this one.View attachment 3489841
And found my climbing rose still has some blossoms on it. It's planted in the shade so only blooms where the branches find the sun.View attachment 3489847
I leave the bones in tinned salmon. Valuable calcium for them. Not sure if fresh cooked or raw bones might cause crop injuries so you're probably wise removing them.I took it easy for the most part today because I needed a break after all the work I did yesterday. But I did feed the little ones some healthy snacks. They got their first taste of salmon, which they loved. So I cooked up some more of the scraps from a whole salmon I bought today, separated the meat and skin from the bones (probably unnecessary), and mixed it with some of their starter crumbles and water to make a salmon flavored mash. The eight of them ate about a cup of it in 10 minutes.
They also devoured some lemon balm, mint, various weeds and some horseradish leaves.
High nutrient snacking! I should eat as well!
Still battling to save at least some of mine. Went out yesterday to discover Pru had eaten my painted fern to a stump and Gladys had eaten my miniature pine back to the branches. It's ridiculously spiky but that obviously wasn't a problem....I gave up my garden to protect my babies. It's been warmer these days, so i take my morning coffee down to the enclosure, play some Liberace while i clean, water and feed them. I let them free range while doing my chores and they found all the dandelions before i had a chance to harvest them for tea and jelly. Love my stinkers!

I considered dropping the bony salmon scraps into the blender to break up the bones but didn't want the hassle of trying to wash fish smell from the blender jar. Maybe I should have saved the stripped bones and dried them, then crushed them as a supplement for the chicks.???I leave the bones in tinned salmon. Valuable calcium for them. Not trying to be contrary, but according to Wikipedia, ladders are non-venomous. Maybe your ladder snakes are something else?? The only snakes I've seen here in SW Washington are common garter snakes. But to the east of the Cascade mountains, rattlesnakes are common in areas. A few years ago I was camping by Banks lake and saw several rattlesnakes, and two of them were mating. That was cool to see!Oh wow! What a beautiful snake! The simplicity of your rose is so stunning. It reminds me of Rosa Moyesii "Geranium" but with more white on the petals.
