What did you do with your flock today?

I know, me too! 😆 The chicks? Not so much 😂

Haha not long at all 😆 Gonzo, the chick that’s pictured in the hat first…actually stood with it on for a couple mins before shaking it off—but Astro barely let me take the picture before he sent it flying off his head hahaha. One of our very calm girls keeps it on till it falls off on its own and Aria just loves it 😂

I’m glad you have fixed the Houdini and the egg eating! 😁 I’m guessing your Houdini is very bummed they can’t continue their adventures though! 😆 I think I will be needing a couple hen saddles too. I hate how the boys have plenty of ladies but clearly have favorites 😣 Poor girls! It’s good you are being careful with your thumb and not trying to overdo things! Gotta be patient so it heals well and then your sewing and awesome cakes will be so much easier ❤️ way to be a good patient!

Summer here has been mild so far! We’ve only had about 3 days around 90, but even those days were ended with breezes that brought cool evenings. It’s been lovely after last years miserable 3 month onslaught of temps over 95…and I am soaking up every bit of the cooler evening temps! We ate dinner out on the patio last night and then played with chicks for a couple hours on the patio. So lovely! Kids started summer on 6/8, and started camps last week. Soccer camp, then volleyball camp, then softball camp. Then we go on vacation and when we get back they have more camps! :) Keeping them busy!! Aria also has a Girl Scouts camping trip at the end of July! They will be busy but our weekends are more open and I’m enjoying that too! Was a good weekend that helped remind me that it’s okay to rest and enjoy things more…instead of go go going all the time! ❤️
Yay! Well, you'll chuckle at this. Pikake was the escapee that got clipped. On the other hand, Houdini the roo was out this morning! Are the sports camps day camps? I remember fondly the girl scout camps I participated in. Your cool evenings are a nice way to end a hot day. Used to spend an occasional summer there with uncles and aunts.

Cabin security cam caught my lily nibbler. ♡ I knew it was not the pigs!!!View attachment 3549463
Gotta head up this morning as phone people are headed back up to fix a bad connection.

Have a new egg customer who makes and traded me ulu chips for eggs. Nice & yum!!!

Sewed pig bag, kind of adorable.View attachment 3549473
And im crushing on this one.View attachment 3549474
Oh, those bags are just so awesome! I would make that trade any day. Ulu chips are so yummy! I traded my friend eggs for fresh bay leaves, and another friend who makes Indonesian food. 😛

The deer missed one or left it for me.

Came home just in time to see Gracie steal a mouse from Forest. Pecked him a few times when he tried to get it back.View attachment 3550236
Then she ate it 🤣
Pretty lily. My cat leaves his 4 legged toys all over the yard for me to find. Just a little cautious about feeding them to the chickens, as I don't know how long they'd been dead. Would you think it would be ok? He catches a lot of voles.

Happy first day of summer! 🌞 🌞 🌞 🌞 :clapWe're back up to the average 8 or 9 eggs. Raked up all the apples I'd thinned, and then harvested rocks. The girls have been doing a fair amount of excavating, and have exposed so many rocks. I hate stepping on them and do not want a twisted ankle. DH and I joke about the rocks that multiply in our yard and garden. @Sequel we grow rocks in Kitsap County.

Beautiful babies! Love love love your mottled hen!

We got home last night. The kids did such a good job taking care of everything for us. For some reason I'm just beat so going to take some quiet time today.
I did lose about six peaeggs while I was gone. Forgot to tell my youngest that the eggs can't be turned small end up so when she flipped the eggs she was doing small end, then big end instead of side to side. My fault though for not thinking to be more specific. Luckily the only eggs I'm sure died were mine and not friends. At any rate, it was a lot of work for the kids and they just did wonderful. ❤️

Was lucky this morning and had my camera handy to catch a cute moment. Went to take Goose potty before my morning coffee and Mina greated us with a tail wiggle and a headbutt for Goose. 😂
