Busy couple of days for me.

After searching for Mochi high and low all morning, noon and night, I startled awake from a dream of a cat meowing at almost 12 straight up. I jumped out of bed and went outside in the dark forest and started calling for Mochi again... and he responded ♡♡♡♡ I then made my way to him and scooped him up. He spent the day napping after much to eat that early morning.View attachment 3585889
Last eve I rode down the hill as I was scheduled to do some trapping for KCCP. I made my dh a nice big pot of pretty yummy spaghetti and then took off to do my thing. I spent about 2-3 hours trapping at nice man's house. I was only allowed 4 spots for spay and neuter last night. I got 4, was thinking one kitten may be too young so set a few traps near my house and caught the tom I have been wanting to get and fixed forever. He just went in for surgery about an hour ago. Sooooo happy ♡♡♡

Also, nice man's cat colony is really sick so KCCP was able to diagnose, medicate and will provide me with the antibiotics and flea drops to treat the whole colony. I just gotta ride down the hill everyday for the next 5 days to do it. hehehe. Ok 🏍

Well, my rooftop layer seems to be putting them in the nest boxes again, yippee. And even though girls have slowed laying, I still have another 6 dozen to take down the hill.

I did not freerange the gang today because they have basically been being bad and just hanging out tramping the garden instead of wandering and chomping till their hearts delight. Kind of defeats the whole freerange thing and I don't want to spend the whole 1-3 hours shooing them so they don't flatten and kill everytlivinggreenthing in the front garden. Plus needed catch up nap.

Tonights trapping got canceled due to vets not able to get to all 50+ cats today and mine being delayed. So. That is ok. Next time right? Happy to just hang up here with all of my sweeties.

I'm so glad Mochi's home! You must have been worried sick! Hope he gets a really good rest in. Poor baby's probably exhausted.

Bless you for all that work with the feral cats. There's nothing sadder then seeing serious illness like feline leukemia etc hit a feral population. Especially if it's chock full of babies.

No, never have.
I did let a broody set 6 last summer. 4 hatched, 2 pullets, 2 cockerels. They will be one on the 29th. Official hens and rooster. Rehomed the other boy.

Well the naked neck ladies all went to their new home today. Or almost. Somehow I managed to miss one. We were talking and there were a lot of chickens to catch. After my friend left, I went back to tidy the coop and there she was wandering around wondering where everyone went. Guessing she was in a nest box or behind the feed and we were talking too much to notice. Shes a pretty girl.

I posted four peafowl for sale yesterday and have people coming tomorrow. So tonight I let them settle into bed and used a step ladder to reach the girl they want. Put her in the baby peas integration pen since they're not using it yet. Shes not happy but it's temporary and beats the heck out of trying to convince her to let me pick her up during the day when there's so many places I can't reach in there. She's friendly but doesn't like to be picked up at all! Remember Magic? Shes the only silver pied I kept from last year. She sure grew up well. She wasn't listed in the ad but the lady asked and I decided to let her go. Kinda wishing I'd said no .

I repaired a water line and got eat up with fire ants while they watched it all go down.

I have on pet pullet that squats for me to pick her up and then shakes it off when I put her down. She's not all there.

Maybe you have just the right touch to make her think so. Lol.

Yay!! I’m so glad you found Mochi! He must’ve chased something way into the woods and got tired! I’m so glad he’s a smart boy who knows his way home Also glad you were able to get all the sick kitties on track in the colony! Sounds like things are calming down and the storm wasn’t too terrible?

So glad Mochi is safe and sound. You have some busy days ahead as the kitty vet tech. Bad chickens. Which is why I have fences around to keep them away from my plants. So far the fake eggs are working. Now to solve the Kauai crowing syndrome. All hours of the night. Been wearing earplugs.

One of my roosters is quick and efficient like that and right after he’s done he makes a loud yell like “I’m awesome” and then walks away…it’s very meathead at the gym lifting weights

I wish Stan was more meathead in that respect. He takes aaages! You can see the girls thinking "are you not done, already?"

If courgettes are like zucchini, my friend makes relish out of them. There is also a mock apple pie recipe out there. I didn't plant them this year, trying out a new squash that can be eaten early, or saved as a winter squash. At any rate, the crowing is a critter alarm, at the least. I should let my neighbor know to check if he hears crowing.

Yes! Courgettes and zucchini are the same thing. Although some we picked yesterday are approaching marrow-sized!
I've got a courgette and shallot relish to try and I'm going to make chocolate courgette cake later. I've also got some piccalilli on the go. I'm making a filo pie with grated courgette, feta and almonds later in the week. Mock apple pie sounds intriguing.
