I went ahead and ordered a tarp. I figured I’d rather them face the big girls and potentially get disciplined than have them run off into the abyss outside. I don’t even know how I’d catch them if that happened.That's what I did with the Dominiques, but it was an old plastic tablecloth I used on top of the dog crate brooder.

The brooder was inside the hoop coop. If they escaped they faced the wrath of the older Sussex chicks!
Are they sleeping out there? Is that what the roost is for or just for practice and you bring them back inside at night?
