What did you do with your flock today?

Happy Thanksgiving all! 🦃🍁🍂
For me it is more like 🐖🐟🥗🍠👍
I'll have the oven on for a little while today but, not enough to undo all of the beautiful cooling effects of a nice cold front that just came in. Nice not sweating for a bit. We are having a terrific light rain as I type.

Mountain chickens are getting Tylan 200, a LB was sneezing with congestion last eve. Was hoping to bring them down the mountain in the next few days but now I will do a wait and see.

Let the kittens out into the garden so I could get some glam shots... lol. It was more of a ferret fest. So fun to watch- hard to get updated photos. Was able to edit a few....View attachment 3689793View attachment 3689795View attachment 3689796View attachment 3689797View attachment 3689799

Video worthy stuff. They are no longer feral kittens forsure. Lots of purrs and asks for snacks. Absolute joys. Even Forest loves themView attachment 3689812
May be able to incorporate Waihona soon. She does not hiss or growl at me and seems to like and except the food and dry spot pretty well. Also curious, not hiding as much as she used to ♡♡♡View attachment 3689813

DH is doing pretty darn good almost 2 months after his catapult. Cane, little pain, ahead of PT. He even rode his motorcycle the other day. Speaking of which, I am still impatiently waiting for my new ride to make it onto the barge. With the holidays, not a good idea to hold my breath. More than happy to do my store runs on Boo.

Beetle is doing a terrific job with the homegirls. I have had to physically remove the feral broody out of the nest boxes 3 times 🙄 pretty funny being able to reach in and calmly remove her to place on an outside roost. Always a delayed freak out, surprised she comes back... but she does.

Wishing all a terrific, safe and happy day.
Those kitties! 🥰🥰🥰🥰😻
Sounds like that feral hen wants to be a permanent part of your family 😄
Hope your day's as beautiful as you ❤️

I'm spoiling my chickens today with healthy treats. So far they've gotten the cooked skin from a butternut squash, the cooked whites of 8 eggs and around 20 small tomatoes that ripened up from green in the house.

Later on they'll get the keel bone from the turkey breast I'm cooking. That should be fun to watch! I'll be sure to leave plenty of turkey scraps attached to the bone.

Busy, busy, busy! Glad you are well and it is good to see you pop up (with photos!!! 😍) congratulations on all the goodies 😆. Most exciting, another forward push with your showing goals. That must feel great. Love the "wins" when we get them ♡♡♡ Love the Watermaal friends AND the good pullet luck or pullet surprise 😉👍Very cool. Cages and paint job are terrific. Loving the designer color on your holding pens, aubergine right?!! 🍆 So fancy 💜💜💜 .
Thanks!! Yeah, it’s been a good few weeks with the chickens (knock on wood). The new little Watermaals are really mellow for birds I acquired as hens, so I’ve been bringing one in at night to chill with me while I watch TV 😍 I’m also super excited about the pullet surprise, since I have wanted a cuckoo hen for a long time 😆 And when I thought I finally had one with the cuckoo Marans I got as a pullet from the feed store…it grew into a ginormous rooster. He’s the biggest baby ever, afraid of his own shadow…🙄😆 Not sure what to do with him!

The show carrier is a nice aubergine yes! I really like the deep rich purples and blues. 😍

Love all the kitty pictures!! They’re all so adorable 🥰 Such lucky fur balls! Glad to hear DH is doing well and hope the bike arrives soon! I’ll be wishing good health to the mountain flock as well ❤️❤️

Enjoy the 🐖🥗🍽! Happy Thanksgiving!

Watermaals are exciting ❤️ I've only seen pictures of them on Greenfire. Do you have a rooster too and are you going to breed just them or add to another breed?
Hooray and congrats on your cuckoo maran hen ❤️🎉

Been super busy lately so not a lot of time to catch up on all the posts yet! Did I mention I got some more chickens? I have a problem 😆 But to be fair, they’re a breed I Am specifically attempting to breed and show, and it was three hens!

I also decided to get serious and buy some conditioning/breeding cages for next Spring plans and the shows happening from now thru March. Traveled for work too, and catching up on missed work, running kids to soccer and band and 4-H. Next weekend is our first show since May and I will be doing chicken baths and prep between now and Thursday, the 30th. I’m excited to go and also see how some of the new kids (chickens) do showing. Some of my d’Anvers are looking quite lovely! 😍

The new conditioning pens—looks sooo small but they won’t stay in them long!

Painted the second show carrier box finally! I love this purple 😍

Today was also organic greens day! A nice array of collard greens, chard, rainbow chard, dandelion greens, green and red kale, spinach, cilantro, green apples, herbs, brewers yeast, Omegas 3/6 and Vitamin E, and leftover veggies from Chinese take out!

I also sat with the big run chickens and checked on the molters. Charlie and Mocha are looking a bit rough! 🤪

And last, I brought in one of the young teen chickens that I let Duchess and Daisy hatch so I could look for saddle feathers. I was sure I got 3 boys from the three that hatched and when looking at this one today it struck me that at 10 weeks it should have bigger wattles. Dug around and couldn’t find a single saddle feather! Crazy! She’s rather shy and hard to catch but then sits with you very calmly 😍 She’s half bantam Wyandotte (white with barring), half Black marans.

Hope everyone has a lovely Thanksgiving tomorrow with family and maybe some football 😍
Wow! You have been busy!
And, as ever, your boys and girls are so, so pretty 😍😍😍😍. Good luck for next week's show 🤞
Happy Thanksgiving to all! (I'm feeling quite left out - just a normal weekend for us in the U.K. 🤣).

Oh my! Such adorable kitties! I'd adopt each and every one of them if I could 😍😍😍😍. I really don't know how you have the strength to re-home them. I'd end up as a crazy cat hoarder if it was left to me 🐱
Great to hear DH is making a great recovery, sounds like he'll be back to normal in no time ❤
Chicken sneezing abounds here too - everyone is at it! No sign of respiratory infection thankfully (yet!) or any other sign of illness so everyone is getting Vet RX on their wattles etc before bed and an extra dose of vits in the water. Hope the Tylan does the trick with your babies ❤❤
Sounds like the feral wants to move in - after all, who wouldn't, given the supreme love and care you show your babies!

This morning Stanley bit me and drew blood!
To be fair, I think he thought he was protecting the ladies as it happened when I thrust my hand through the pop door with a new poop scoop. It was one, hard, sharp peck then he retreated to the nest box making his worried noise. Still, I need to stop that happening again as I need to be able to reach into the coop unmolested.
Ferdy has never, ever pecked me but Sylv did 3 or 4 times. It was always in the same circumstances as with Stan this morning, me reaching into the coop in half light without him being able to see it was me.
Stan is becoming more and more like his grandad every day. He has started stamping his feet at DH and if he gets annoyed. I also think he's getting an unhealthy attachment to my feet - just like grandad! 😂
