What did you do with your flock today?

STILL in the search for where one of my hens is laying. I'm thinking making a neon colored tutu or saddle so I can find her!
One day I hope they make a go-pro small enough (and affordable) to strap to our wandering chooks. The world through the eyes of a chicken I bet is hella entertaining.

Ahhh! I love palo verdes! Such a unique plant! 😍

Yeah, I have enjoyed working in fields I find I have a solid passion for and got lucky to find a good paying job doing some of it! I focused the past 18 years on the land itself in conservation and ecology, but I’m finding myself drawn back to the animals again. Chickens are definitely enough for now! But someday…🐮🐐🤠 hehe.

That is a really nice looking Cemani! What a fun new addition! You can tell yourself he has black spots? 😆😁 I’ve heard they are pretty nice roosters, so I’m interested in hearing what you think of him in a few weeks! 😍
I want to see more of your beautiful photos when someday comes!
He's the spottiest bird I have after all!
I hear a black light at night is good to help you spot eggs. They will glow or more standout.

But always fun to have adult year round Easter
I thought that's what kids are for...😉

I would so love to see that footage! Both my kids went through a "humans suck" phase. I ask them to imagine what the world would look like if other animals had the brains we do and our lovely thumbs...footage like that might prove my point. Moments of beauty, peace and war.

@ChicknMore - abelated congratulations on your Ayam Cemani cockerel 😍 What a dreamy bird and perfect addition to your zoo.

@kurby - I want you to raise Zebus too. What a beautiful creature. Well, you have the degree and the will to do your dream and I am rooting for you!

I'm running out of eggs lol. So many promised to others that I only have 4 in my bowl now lol. I am wanting to make dh a pasta he likes and a mango clafoutis. The way the girls are yelling over the nest boxes this morning it sounds like we will have a cool dozen by 10 but this last week my reality was more like 8 by 5 if lucky. I miss being spoiled with it raining eggs, full bowls and happy people. 😊😂 I want it all!
I think it is the old gals being more or less done for the summer. I'm happy for their breaks. Guess it is time to close the egg shop for awhile. Possibly do a hatch in a few months instead.

Well, we are getting a break from the sun with a one awesome cloud cover. Much thicker than I expected, I am happy!

Yesterday dh went to the pasture and found Storms lifeless body. He was the under roo and kept hitting on the bigger roos girls and well, I think Happy just had enough of him and took him out. My dh is a bit heart broken as storm was his favorite. We had both been tempted to bring him home on many occasions but the pasture is a pretty awesome place, just not as monitored and I'm sure he would have caused trouble here too. RIP Storm ♡View attachment 3147604
That left an opening down there so I sent 2 cockerels with dh this morning. We will have to monitor. So far, dh was down there for hours waiting for farrier (as they make you do) and he said boys were loving it. I'm keeping the most adoptable locked up in roo coop and today was the quietest day I have had in a long time. Harmony restored.
I’m so sorry. : (
Thats wonderful that you're adventurous!

I love the posture on that last bird and Frito looks so friendly and curious.

I can't pick a favorite from these. You take some gorgeous photos ❤️❤️❤️
Thank you!! Frito is the best. I really need to band her and maybe look into pigeons pants/a harness so I can take her around the yard with me while I do chores. ❤️
Goodness, I don’t feel like I was gone that long but there has been a lot of posts since I was last here!

@TropicalBabies I'm sorry about your rooster boy :-( it’s always so sad but does sound like it made things a bit easier for your main flock. Silver linings are always good to find! Can’t wait to see your motorcycle when it’s all finished getting fixed up! I’ve always been afraid of them for some reason haha. Love ATVs but take two tires away and I’m afraid 😆😆

@pennyJo1960 i can’t wait to see the finished coop! The chickens are gonna love it! Your lavender boy was a pretty guy! I just love my lavenders! Maybe a bit too much 😆 I’m getting a rather monochromatic flock haha. The blue ODs from @ChicksnMore will bring some nice different colors I think! 😍

@FrankieDoodle i love all your pigeons!! And your pictures of trees and flowers and bees! I need to get out and do some nature walks…I used to take so many plant pictures until I got chickens 😂

@ChicksnMore i love your pea aviary! It looks well built and perfect for them! Sounds like you have caught the hatching bug 😁 I caught it back in February and it won’t stop 😆 Wish I had a man from the Mountains that came to take my extra chicks too! Hehe. I am probably going to take a couple three boys up to a rescue farm if they don’t sell. Once they have names it’s a struggle for me to let them go! 😩

Hello to all the new folks that have been posting! I love hearing your stories and seeing your chickens!
Thanks!!

Just relaxed for a bit with the ducks this morning. Nature's clowns! I took them some duckweed and pennywort and sat and drank some coffee while watching their silliness.

We used to walk them down to the pond for an hour or so most days but now we bring some of the pond to them instead. They probably miss their pond jaunts (I know I do), but it allows us to always have pond goodies for them❤️
