What did you do with your flock today?

Oh PS @Luv Ducks i gotta live vicariously through other duck owners on this site ♡ that means you too. Never out of your wheelhouse on byc 😉 just the right spot! Just wish you could post photos (and emojis! )
I wish I could too. I am so computer ileterate that I am shocked I can even do this. My ducks I think are beautiful and I would love for you to see them. I do FB and have them on there at different places. I am shocked I can even do that too! lol

It's funny that they say that the Muscovy will not mate with other ducks. My Male Mallard has mated my Muscovy Hen and my Drake Muscovy has mated my Rouen Hens which look like large Mallards. They are strange looking ducks but the Mules that I have are really pretty. No red carnacles on their faces and marked very pretty. Ducks are very messy but quite entertaining and smart and I love the duck eggs. I fry two every day and eat them and my family eats them also. I always say I have driven the bus for 37 years which is true and in another 37 I will retire, lol. I guess I think my name should have been Mrs. Methusala. The very old person in the bible.
Yeah, don't take my reasoning to the bank. I think that is what I thought I heard lol. I also think I know we can not bring hatching duck eggs in legally.
I will actually start snooping around and come back with a real answer instead of what I think I know. 🤔💡

It takes time and a little poking around. I really had a hard time with this site at first. I got used to it, they did a few improvements and now it is pretty easy breezy cept working off my phone with needy cats gets challenging. Heck, even a desk top is not safe from cats so I guess I can't use them as my excuse.

Wow, I found that most interesting. Thanks for sharing. It is hard to believe that your Ducks would not try to interbreed with others as mine had no problems with the Muscovy at all. Are your Koloa Ducks the same size as the Mallard or are they bigger? The pictures of them I saw online made them look bigger. I am shocked that people don't try to get ducklings of the Koloa Duck for snail control. My Son rescued my first two ducklings from cats. They were wild ducklings. That is how I have my half Rouen/wild Mallard Duck. The wild Drake flew off when he was an adult and so did the Hen so I no longer have them but they did mate with my Ducks that I have now and that is how I have the Drake that I have. The rest found new homes but flew away also. I have clipped my Drakes wings at first and now he just stays around. That snail problem looks terrible and I would think they could welcome the ducks there to get rid of them like Mr. Metzer suggested. Thanks so much for sharing.

Wow never knew think it is rather short sighted by them.
Which ones lol
Things have been done in the past to control pests with great disaster for our native populations. I think they are doing the best they can do and if there is plentiful food for our native population of ducks then maybe they can make a big comeback from near extinction.
We also have a Nene goose that the taro farmers love to hate. I think maybe the farmers may be being short sighted myself. Lol

So do your native ducks like to eat the snails? I can't imagine any duck passing up a snail meal but I guess they can all be different. I am glad you have enough food for them to survive there. How did they become near extinction with a good food supply? Hunters, or is that illegal there?

Probably us bulldozing their habitats, dogs, people, disease, climate etc etc ☹ they are very shy.
