Poor baby ♡♡♡ hope she settles.

Hello! This is a place to post pictures/talk about what you and your flock have done today.

I was on a zoom call earlier and Iris, my rooster, decided to stand behind me and crow repeatedly. Thankfully I was on mute, but it was still annoying. They couldn’t see him, but they could see me trying to make him quiet, which was a little embarrassing.
Here’s a pic of my boy with some mini roses.

What about you guys? Have you done anything interesting with your flock today?

Here are a few pictures of my birds.

my gold laced Wyanotte(sp) looks Identical to yours but maybe mines legs look a tad longer. SO beautiful! I can look at them all day. I've gotten used to "you can look but dont touch us, unless we ask. lol

Good morning Tell me he did not get one ?
I put mine in tractor may not be free ranging but keep them safe.
No he didn't...luckily they didn't see him and they were more interested in jumping into the garden!
But the hawks have definitely learned I let my oldest boy out every morning since he is confinded to a bachelor pad!

Talk about a horse pill! That egg looks just like a medicine capsule...but bet even a horse couldn't swallow it!

I'm so glad they're all ok! I know the hawks here will swoop down even with me pretty close. The only thing I've had sure success with is keeping my big dogs with the free chickens or keeping the chickens locked up. Not sure how much longer the dogs will work because my two girls are both ten now and less active...they're in good shape but starting to slow down. My kids dog is still in his prime though and that's probably enough.

i have learned that if my chickens are free ranging, I am taking a chance of losing one. Unless we are literally scratching around with the flock! (that was cute for a little while, but scratching with the chickens doesnt pay the bills), so i have adjusted our schedule to early morning freerange, and pre roost freerange and a couple journys in the day if time and weather. A total of 4 hours a day of close supervised free range is the only realistic thing i can do to give me any peace of mind. I think I need to turn my entire yard into a 'run', lol!

I'm just beginning to try letting the banties free-range... they're only getting an hour or two pre-roost when Im out there working and I bring my dogs into the area they're playing in. My dogs have always kept my juvenile big chickens safe so think it'll work. These guys are just a tad smaller then the juvenile big chickens I've had the dogs guard. But I'm still nervous about it...I've always brought babies out for play sessions but those are closely supervised.
Wouldn't it be wonderful to have an entire protected yard!

Yeah it was not my usual to get them out.. i was just wanting a green grass, sunny picture rather than the dark run.
Joey is the only one getting out on any kind of regular basis...but I'm usually out there with him.
Yeah from high up a massive tree it didn't look quite so big...but when that hawk swooped down and made a u-turn...OMGeeze it was HUGE!
And still a ways away from me at that!
