What did you do with your flock today?

Introduced the little ones to the big ones today. I just did a make shift thing outside the coop to see how it would go….and the littlest one just went right through the fence and into the coop. Of course that’s my boy. The older girls did good, even my rooster, well cockerel. At first the older ones came running cause they seen me coming. Then they are all interested in what I had….until they realized it was baby chickens. Then they were all stand offish like “how dare you” or “what the heck lady!”

So I took them inside the coop. Without fencing but with me their. 2 were interest. So I thought. Turns out they were more interested in their water. 😂 I will put up a better fence inside the coop and allow them to have time without me their but for the first time, I felt more comfortable being there. More because of the cockerel. He is a feisty thing. Luckily not towards us ppl yet.

@My Very First 6 Chickens
Your flock is so beautiful I am tempted to add GLW's to my flock- and SLW's. Honestly been tempted for a few years but your photos are seriously tipping me hard 😍

K. Back to reality lol
Yesterday I free ranged my LB flock while I did yard work again but as I went to let them out I noticed Share hung back. Hmm 🤔 she is pretty shy but let me pick her up w/o much to-dos and then proceeded to spit up on me when I gave her a check. Yippee! So, seems like she has a touch of sour crop. She is the one who had water belly or ascites though that has gone down a lot- Possibly a misdiagnosis on my part but hard to believe what all that swelling was about for so long- Anywho, thinking maybe related but can't really find any direct links to the 2. So, I drained her, gave her yogurt and an antifungal and massaged her. I then let her down where she and Princess Peaches got into a throw down. 😮 Share was giving as good as she was getting but.... 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️ I did not let it go on for more than a few milliseconds, Share is not feeling well and I just don't know what got into P.P.... they are normally besties. I was thinking maybe Peaches was jealous because I was giving Share attention??? I don't know, just strange. Like drunken bar brawlers these two.

Anywho, Share seems to be feeling better this morning.
I was planning on worming my flock so will go check on her soon. No worming for her though... not going to ravage what crop health she has.

Sun is out, winds are up. No lost hunting dog all day yesterday or this morning. Dare I hope that his person connected?! Humane Soc. Said he and another pooch were all over social media and I received 2 responses from the multiple postings I'd placed.
Today I'll will do some poking around to see if I can run into him. HS is dropping a trap at our Kekaha home... maybe no need? :fl:fl:fl I do worry not knowing.

Went to go pick blackberries and guava for the flock again. It's about.... a 1/16 of a mile ... maybe but Forest has taken to coming with me.

Such a cool forest pal.

So, as I was writing Forest sensed the hunting dog ☹ I put out food. No people for him yet. So guess I'll try the trap soon.

So much fun with your kitty! I used to have a kitty that liked to follow me all over. I just loved her to bits.

I've been working on converting the 5 little coops. Started reassembling everything as one big coop, got everything done but the roof...then decided I wanted it as three coops🤣. So tore it all apart again and started over. It's about half done now. My garden looks like a junkyard for now...but working on this gives me time to think through how I want to set up the ducks water.

The ducks want their big water bowl back...the minute I walk outside they start quacking away like mad. The bowl they're using right now is only 20 gallons.
Clyde giving me the eye and probably hoping to go to the pond.

Then Peaky gives me the eye.

Then Chubby joins in and all three stare hopefully.

Our three sweeties and their babies greeting me.

So cute! I can’t wait for my duckies to love me like this!!

Your pond should do the trick❤️ Our first three are all super sweet...but lots of pond trips and treats probably has a lot to do with that😉😂
I tried treats and they all huddle in a corner like I’m going to eat them. But I’m hopeful. My older chickens acted like that and now they run to the run door when I’m heading out there.

i think I have made it this far with my chickens, through everything, by, being there. At the end of the day, Its your call, and your decisions. watching them and being with them makes these decisions easier. You stick close to the flock through it all. You wont questions your instincts. Good luck with your cockerel <3
