What did you do with your flock today?

Yesterday while down the mountain and b4 the big rain deluge, I caught the girls swooning around Beettle ♡ I got to hand it to that guy... he sure runs a calm outfit.

Girls down there are laying gangbusters. Up here. Meh. I get like 2 a day out of 9 layers lol. In all fairness 3 are 5yo and there is not a lot of light, makes me understand mainland cooler climate conditions better.

Joey's showing his dominance over lil Daisy...and she ain't ready yet. I hate seeing em do the hair pulling. He's not mounting her or trying to just pulling feathers. This is how he did last time with Zoe before she began laying.
My neighbor that helps me with em when we are gone called me and said she didn't wanna overstep but he was not being nice at all to lil Daisy!
From everything I've read this is normal behavior and she doesnt have any bald areas or blood.
Yalls thoughts?

Yeah, it is the normal behavior from my experience and they grow out of it eventually...but the pullets also eventually start accepting it instead of being so dramatic and squawking like they're being murdered. I think if he doesn't move out of the behavior after a month or so you might need to reconsider things...but it's definitely typical from my experience!

With the hot hot nights here, we turn the AC off at night and sleep outdoors most of the time. Well, either the goose or the tortoise is snoring at night. Loud snoring! Both look, act and are eating healthy and both are old.
Just wondering if anyone has a bird that snores.
I might go out with a flashlight tonight to figure out which of them it is.

Good morning and happy Saturday fellow chicken admirers and enthusiasts ♡
I'm still on my first cup of joe and it is mighty tasty.
Had a super low key, embarrassed to say almost boring day yesterday. Just laying low and hanging with the babies on their first day out of bator. It was also threatening rain yesterday so that made it a little easier to lay low.
DH gave me a surprise visit and delivery. I purchased a ceramic water bottle dispenser w/stand and extra bottles off of Craigslist and hubby picked it up when he was in town, filled a bottle for me too ♡. He also brought a sub sandwich to split 😁 Such a romantic 🥰

Forest brought his own snack

For which we are very proud of him for.

The new chicks are doing strangely fabulous. Lots of napping and contentness (it's a word lol) no chirpers, troublemakers or pasty butters. I do wish I had a piece of ply so I could raise them up so I could spy them better. Next time I go down I will scrounge some as I already have a stand that will work great.

Main flock has a few mild molters. Like a civilized pillow fight. Eva can now go by her Indian name of 1 Tail Feather and Spider... well, he would be know as chief No Tail Feather. 🤭🪶 I am hoping for only mild molts. Many had a sour time of it last year.

I’ve been switching pretty regularly between liquid betadine and neo on Sonny and Cher’s pox, and Sonny is almost all better. Cher still looks incredibly bad, but just a day or two ago she finally stopped looking worse.

I planted a mandavilla outside the pigeon aviary, and everyone has enjoyed that. I got a couple pictures of Squirrel and Beigie hanging out with it.

Such pretty birds!
Is your bench there handmade? It's awfully pretty too ❤️

Well... did you find the culprit?! 😂
I love the outside sleeping. Is it a screen in lanai or you able to be under the stars?! Either way sounds terrific. ♡♡♡

Good morning folks! It is 5am and 63° here! We have a bit of a breeze too so feeling a little cooler.
I checked the chicks who are on the deck with a light blanket over the brooder for breeze blockage and warmth capture and they are fine. Bebopping around but still quiet.
Everyone in awhile a little moth will find its way in and they run around like sillies trying to get it. They are surprisingly good at it already!

Still dark as night now, no moon, but I had better get up. Forest demands it.
@ChicksnMore I can not say I have had a snoring chicken that I know of but I can tell you my old lady cat Marley is talking and snoring up a storm the last few days. She loves it up here and there have been extra purrs and rubs so must be good dreams ⭐🌙
