What did you do with your flock today?

Had two grandsons spend the night Thursday night so mom n dad could enjoy cracker barrel turkey dinner only served on Thursdays then they decided to not go...preggo cravings - real thang!
So I began yesterday pooped!
But dug in to makin pumpkin pancakes from scratch!
I rearranged the run last night as I was tucking em all into bed so they been real busy this morning! Hardly any crowing at all!!!
Definitely not gonna use the basket box I have used previously as they are picking the baskets a part lol!
So gonna go in a hunt hopefully this AM for the old timey vintage nest box!!!

Must be nice to be able to see the boys again and give your big kids the gift of adult time alone. I'm sure they appreciate it ♡.

I would LOVE to see a photo of your old vintage nest box . Surely it must be charming.

I'm hoping I can...I only need a 2 or 3 box piece! I've seen em everywhere the past but may not be able to find em now that I want one lol!

Oh I hear you on that one but excited for your adventure . One thing about the mainland (that I am completely envious of) is the ability to see and find vintage items of many sorts. I'd love to go shopping or wandering junk yards, barns etc. even Good Will's are awesome over there. Hawaii lacks that charm.

Yeah it is definitely a luxury.. I have to really watch myself or I get way carried away!

Welp....struck put in atleast 10 antique stores...may have actually been 11! And marketplace and Craigslist...so ended up just buying a quad from rural king.
If i hadn't been looking for these they would have been literally everywhere!
Guess everyone is raising chickens or decorating their homes with these rustic cuties!
I mean I have my Granny's galvanized old chicken feeder on my mantle!

Gave my chickens oatmeal for the first time and once they tried it they were all over it!!!

I've seen where you can add pumpkin to it as well as a few other spices good for em (but I'm drawing a blank lol).

I considered adding herbs that are good for them but I figured I would see if they would eat it or not. I caught 2 mice on a snap trap and neither of them died. Same trap different time. I don’t remember how the first one was caught but we released it into the run and the chickens were scared of it. So the next one should have died but didn’t. It was snapped on it back so it was paralyzed from a certain point down. Took it to the run thinking maybe they would have a different reaction and no. Still scared when it moved and they showed not a lot of interest in it. Only 1, Diamond even gave it a thought. But even that was short lived. We did kill both mice because the one for sure had to of been in pain and the other I know wouldn’t have last long anyway. So really my chickens are the odd balls and I never know what they will actually like vs what they won’t I do plan to add stuff to the oatmeal though now

Mine are oddballs too! My 2nd time trying grubblies mealworms...everyone raves bout how their chickens go nuts for these...2 flocks I've had coule have cared less...first flock was scared of em...not like they are even alive.
This group is slowly coming round to em...so I'm hoping it will help with feathers breaking off.
