Today I fat-shamed Penelope and Pru then felt awful about it! You're such a silly, said DH, worrying you've hurt their feelings... sometimes he just doesn't get it! Mind you, i do need to watch their food intake. Penelope weighs 2lbs 4 ounces (she is a larger than average bantam Cochin but still...) and Pru weighs a staggering 2lbs 10 ounces! She's definitely a normal sized bantam Cochin. Our U.K breed society says they should be between 20 and 24 ounces!!!! They both weigh more than Ferdy!

Poor girl. She's so pretty and looks such a sweetheart sitting there. Just keep going, you'll both get there and she's doing very well so far!

Well I’m still awake because I spent part of tonight holding Fluff as he took his last breaths and then crying a bunch afterwards :-( I’m gonna miss that sweet boy so much…I know he’s no longer in pain and I am relieved for that but he left a pretty big hole in my heart R.I.P. gentle boy, we loved you.

Well I’m still awake because I spent part of tonight holding Fluff as he took his last breaths and then crying a bunch afterwards :-( I’m gonna miss that sweet boy so much…I know he’s no longer in pain and I am relieved for that but he left a pretty big hole in my heart R.I.P. gentle boy, we loved you.

I'm sending you huge hugs and all the love in the world . I'm so sorry for your loss, it's the hardest thing to bear. At least, as you said, he's no longer in pain and that can only be a blessing. The photos are beautiful and it's obvious that you loved him and the feeling was mutual. It's clear you had some special times together. It will help to remember them when things are less raw. I know exactly what you mean about leaving a hole in our hearts - they are family after all

Ouch that is a hard one miss @kurby, I am so sorry. I think I have pretty much followed and admired that boy from the start as you have many of mine. I know you did good by him and he loved you. I think you sprang into action with all the clues you had and are a good chicken keeper, I'm sure you will spring into action again and do any necessary adjustments that need doing with your families help ♡♡♡

Thank you it always helps being comforted by others that understand that to me, they are not just chickens—they are my family I’ve known he wasn’t well for awhile so I’ve been coming to terms with this for a few months—but it doesn’t hurt any less when they’re finally gone and the sliver of hope disappears

Thanks @TropicalBabies This was a tough one for me. They are all hard, but the special ones always hurt a little bit more. Tomorrow we will be doing a bunch of cleaning and upkeep while it’s still nice weather!

On a bright note, Asha has been bending her bad leg instead of it being straight out in front and she had her last amoxicillin dose today so fingers crossed. She got a long bath today and a soapy scrub of Dawn then an iodine soak. She’s gonna get more eggs today but I’m gonna add some hard grains too. Definitely thankful for today—no work, husband and daughter away at a football game. It’s been quiet and has given me time to sit in my sadness and help Asha without distraction. Happy Friday all.
