What did you do with your flock today?

Today I went to collect my eggs before going into work. I discovered one chicken was not wanting to go out and she was growling a little. I hadnt thought much about it but hindsight she had remained behind many times. I work basically 12 hrs aday. Feed in morning, a little treat at lunchtime when i come home and they are free ranging all day in my big back yard. So anyway, heres this chicken in the coop not wanting to come out...I heard the peeps!!! Sly girl she is. 3 little chicks, probably 2 days old. The egg shells were dry. Now I will have to name her something. Btw she has 3 similiar sisters but the have their number bands on. 101, 102, 103 and 104... the rooster daddy is Mr. Biggers.
Oh my! What adorable balls of fluff! 😍 Such pretty parents too! And such a nice surprise! That's how we ended up with little Stanley - Pru was a sneaky little madam and either buried his egg deep in the straw or hid it under her wing every time i moved her!

Well, no more sniffles or sneezes here. Still keeping the suspects separated and all have vits in water.
Got 14 eggs yesterday. That was pretty good being I have a waiting list.

Got a call from a repeat chicken buyer wanting the 8mo LB cockerel. I'm so happy though I did tell the guy I wanted to wait a week b4 letting him go.
I will miss "Santa" as he is a sweet heart and funny as can be but... less is more sometimes, especially with boy chickens.
Cloudy, dh got stepped on by my horse so laid low while he ices today lol.
Good news for Santa but it's so hard to let go...
I feel for your DH. I once had my foot broken by a 19hh Shire. Hooves the size of dinner plates! I was about 14 and very stupid. It was summer and I was wearing sneakers....🙄

Tell me about it! Mine will try anything and everything! I've even seen Gladys eating ridiculously spiky and spiny things. It was actually hot here in the summer so some of my cacti had a holiday outside. Guess who I found snacking on them? Yep, hard as nails Gladys! She's already been having sly nips at the Christmas tree...

So yours love ginger too? I once accidentally dropped a piece of fiery crystallized ginger on the floor. There was an honest to goodness fight over it! 🤣
I've not had much luck growing my own in the past. I may give it another go. Do the leaves taste at all 'gingery'?
Ah, sorry, different kind of ginger. We have a red ginger

That grows well everywhere on isle but Kekaha. We are hot, dry with sand loam so if I want to grow it I have to work at it, especially b4 established.
Never tried chewing on the leaf of the other but will and let you know. I have some of that started too.
My chicken sat at my pots of succulents, snacking for years till no more. They also strip the bark off my Ti plants. I'll catch the alphas quiet and congregated and realize they stripped another! Lol. Little stinkers.

That Shire must have been amazing 😍 - size alone has to be incredible ♡♡♡. I mean, practically a house!
Yeah, me too when I was young from my pony who I was positive did it on purpose. Used to seek my foot and then pivot. Ouch but things hurt less when young. We spit, rub dirt and move on. Oh to be young again 😉 DH was cleaning and treating Hombres foot with a Durasol to help strengthen his hooves. Hombre has gotten touchy about his back right and fired it down. I don't see any bruising and there is not much swelling at all but he says it hurts and it is best to let him watch the Pipline Pro while I pick up his chores lol. Suddenly I see the motive 😂😂😂 I'm sure he will be back at it asap. He got us out of walking the Christmas parade this eve too lol. Bah humbug!

Heard 2 more sneezes from the little cuspid this morning and it made me glad he is not mingling. The sneeze is just deep enough to think it is not dust.
Everyones eyes are still clear, nares good. Do have a few older gals who are mingling who's color looked a little off last eve. I'm going to keep observing, extra cleaning and bleaching and adding vits to the water.
Got 14 eggs again last eve.

I dug out a ton of dirt from the run last eve and started to fill a sink hole that we discovered in the yard. So far a 50 gal barrel and a half of dirt. I'll do another today but think that will lower my soil level good for the mulch I will be adding. Need another source for the sinkhole 😕

🌺Happy Saturday again! It was a fast week.

He's so handsome! 😍😍😍
It's yet another breed I'd like to try but as ever, space is a huge problem. Plus availability. I think I've only seen hatching eggs for sale once :(
If you ever have the space and want to give em a try just give me a poke. I'm always happy to send free eggs to anyone on here who'd like. Shipping is awfully hard on eggs, but I have had a couple people succeed hatching them.

A sinkhole! That sounds like no fun. Any idea what caused it and any worries because of it?

Your lovely babies are lucky to have you. ❤️

My Gremlin puppy got to come home to visit today. She gets to stay for two weeks while our friend visits his kids for the holidays. We were so happy to see each other. I still have very mixed feelings about letting him keep her, but I can see she's very healthy and growing fond of him too. He's definitely thrilled with her company...she a typical Chihuahua, she likes to glue herself to her favorite person and make them her everything. I do enjoy hearing him carry on about all the things he loves about her.

I stopped in the park on the drive home with her and thought this cactus was cute.

That's cool!!! ♡♡♡ terrific share.

Sink hole is from abandoned casspool. Guess there was quiet a bit of settling somewhere. Gave it another 3- 50g barrels of dirt that seems to have melted into the great abyss.
