What did you do with your flock today?

My call ducklings arrived today! Had a major SNAFU with the post office not being able to track them but they're alright.

The goslings have taken to them too, though it took a little bit before they stopped being scared (yes the big bad geese were scared of baby call ducks)

Today, I got the first feeder made! The blue portholes took a 75mm hole saw, the rent a coop ones take a 95mm, had to wait a few extra days to start this project because the little ones came with the saw, I didn’t think they were different sizes. I have another 4 of the rent a coop ones for another bucket and also have everything I need to make a couple of 4-port horizontal nipple water buckets as well. I don’t really need these until the chicks go outside, but it’s what I have on hand to actually work on. Used a little cuticle cutter to clean up the holes before installing the covers.

I did in mine with a rasp and heavy grit sandpapper
These are the feeders I made and my water nipples.

I have smaller “brooder” bottles with horizontals as well. The 5 gallon buckets are going out in the run, still waiting on the rest of my building supplies to get here.

Iris, Renie, Molly, Nugget, Watson, and Papa Smurf were all on my lap getting snuggles. I haven’t had that many birds on me in a while, and they weren’t fighting until I tried to leave. Iris is so tall I couldn’t get his face in the shot without cutting someone out. XD

Nugget is hiding in this last one, but if you look closely under Iris, you can see a tiny sliver of her wing.

I forgot to lock my young light brahma in last eve so he was sniffing the gate to the main flock this morning. I was like... ok. I can leave them in the run and garden, be good for them. Few hours later I let Spider out as it was obvious I was not going to be able to catch the young thing w/o embarrassing myself and the flock was obviously going to die if they were not let out. So, all went well w/ Jack and Spider... they were like hey, you look fabulous! yes, you too! and they did not sqquabble so I let the girls out and it has been going great all day, quiet and respectful...till now. Bless the boys in the eves and mornings. Well, was hoping it would stay quiet and he would be a good wingman so I could try to keep him.
