What did you do with your flock today?

Aloha gang,
Still doing the cockerel juggle, trying to find a way to keep all 4 boys in harmony... I know, I'm an idiot. I don't have the space or flock size for my grand plans but I'm going to keep trying to find the zone for a little longer.
I have the bright idea that my fairly neglected Buff Brahma would probably be very scared and submissive of Spider and is waaaaay better at keeping the ferals out too. So, now that Jack who we now call Jumpin' Jack Flash has had his 3 days out and I give him a C for his efforts, about the same as the Dark Brahma, tomorrow I will give Ivan a shot. He has always been a weird one but has done some growing and maturing.
Also, candled 3 eggs and one, possibly/probably DB was unfertilized... that means DB roo may not be up to snuff yet... was hoping to get some pure DB's out of the egg mix under my broody. I have another week to find out :p

So, think I am just going to scrape boards and fill feeders today. I scrubbed the waters yesterday and stuck some vitamins in because I want to worm the gang B4 the heat comes.
Egg count has dropped so I also need to go look for the hidden nest (s).

Been helping a sick friend, DH and also spring cleaning/thinning of crap around the house so will leave chooks to their own devices and try to stay on track with my garbage. I want to have a garage sale in the next month or so or at least be ready to have one eventually. :p

Photos of the day (not nearly as quality as OP) but pretty flowers for you folks. Happy Wednesday!! i hope it is a good one for all!View attachment 2640069View attachment 2640070

Those are beautiful! 😍

Cleaned and filled waters, collected eggs, rescued 2 chickens who crossed the fence into the neighbors yard, cleaned the broody nest (she pooped in it) and wiped eggs off, set up carrier cage for the 3 cockerels who get rehomed to 1 acre on one of the most beautiful places on earth. Lucky boys :fl :fl :fl AND I let my BB cockerel Ivan out in the garden, then after a few hours I let my 2 BB pullets in for their first date. Ivan, who is a big dork, surprised the heck out of me by being a perfect gentleman. I don't think he mated them because all was quiet for the 3 or so hours they were together. After letting the girls into the run to lay, Ivan promptly mated my slipper. Total dork.

After working on my beach wood nest box a little more the other day I decided it was a fail for that spot. Time for plan B and thanks to my husband working on a friends trailer I have the wood for it.
The kittens are all about the food and play and creative napping lol

Awww, the last picture of the kittens is adorable!

Hi gang, this thread has been awfully quiet and such a good crowd too. Hmmm, I guess It's time to bump it 🌴:frow always a hope for more beautiful photos ;););).

Well, I I have tried to reintroduce Bolt, my Dark Brahma to his girls but they don't want anything to do with him. He is not polite or savvy or charming and it has me rethinking my plans for breeding. Good news is I did plan to have another plan... right? A plan B!!!!
That means I will take out wall panel to roo coop and just keep 1 couple in there with more breathing room. The other color roos will have to be cooped and that possibly puts Jumping Jack back up for sale again. Whatever.... moving on.

Picked up a few more fans and cords and splitters for mini coop and rooster coop so hope to get them hooked up in a day or so.
My broody is on (I THINK... 😬) day 17 or 18. So I won't worry about opening the door for her to go scream at everyone and dust bathe. I just hope she has not pooped on her eggs again as I have not seen any of her monster dropping in awhile. Well, I have the brooder all cleaned and ready and am on chirp alert. I guess I will find out soon!
I am insanely thinking of incubating a bunch of eggs now as I just had a very successful rehoming of 3 cockerels... 😱😩 I am exhausting...

The kittens are awesome and amazing and silly and yes, home. I let them wander the back lanai a few times and that was big. I have started introducing crunchies and may get the opportunity to make the cat tree yet! It will be on the back deck as DH squashed my dreams on an inside one. I am sure he will change his mind eventually. :p
