What did you do with your flock today?

My girls are back to fussing all day. They’ve been doing really well recently, but now that the new guys moved in there’s been some issues with laying. I’ve got 10-12 girls that are laying in the big coop, and even though I have around 6 nests (4 inside, 2 outside), they still fight for the same one. Spoiled girls. It doesn’t help that two of them are borderline broody.

The new guys are doing really well around bedtime, and it looks like they’ve all found their preferred places. The pecking order is still weird, but I don’t think that’ll change anytime soon, lol.

Iris has been doing better. He’s still limping, but he’s getting better at walking and jumping around. I haven’t been bandaging his feet, but there’s no scabs or open wounds, there’s just a lot of swelling. He did somehow manage to break his spur almost completely off. I don’t know how that happened, but they are/were pretty long. I’ve been looking into ways to trim the second one so that one doesn’t break too.

Use a dremel cutoff wheel spins fast enough to cauterize as it cuts
I have extension on my dremmel that keep the machine back a bit also worth the money on animals
I wonder if I could get away with buying one of those for my husbands bday. 🧐

“Happy Birthday honey, yes I know you don’t need that, but can I borrow it?” 😂
