Hi all. New usernames....I hope everyone chooses something similar to their current name or I'll be super confused. Teeny old brain and all.

We've been sooooo busy around here lately. I see every thread has gone a lot quieter. Probably springtime stuff going on with everyone, like here.

I didn't want to flood this thread with baby goat photos, but since @TropicalBabies nudged me, I'll share a few

Just got home from the vet, and she does NOT believe Honey has ocular Mareks. She said she has been taking care of Backyard Chickens for 34 years and never seen it present the way she looks, so she believes she suffered from an eye infection of some sort when she was younger. She does agree with me that she is at least partially blind and as long as she can find her food and water and the chickens don't pick on her, she should do just fine. YAY!!! Happy Friday news!!

Been a little busy here. Beigie turned 5yo today (once again, I can’t believe she’s made it this long. She’s the most beat up/sickest of all my birds, ever. At this point she’s running on pure spite and snacks XD) so I was out getting pics of her. I didn’t get a lot of good ones since she’s so camera shy, but I got some of the rest of the birds.

I’ve been toying with the possibility of letting my two Polish hens, Toad and Roach, out to free range. I’d need to tie their hair first, but idk. They’re shockingly big birds, so I’m not really worried about Iris crushing them. They’re reaallyy feral though, so I’m worried they’d run away.
However, I thought the same of the Santa’s and those guys mellowed out even more. XD

I think I could trust Roach to be free, but Toad is a wild child. I don’t really see them a lot in the location they are now, and since they’re supposed to be eye candy, it kind of defeats the point of having them. Plus at this point they’re the only ones not free range.

Another reason I’m scared to let them out is because there’s a lot of hawks here. The girls are fast and if I tie their hair up it might not be a problem, but I still worry.
I’ll need to discuss it more with Room, see what her thoughts are.

As @TropicalBabies and I were discussing on another thread, if everyone had a baby goat in their lives, there would be a lot more peace and a lot less stress in the world.

Update on the pigeons: we’ve got two eggs! Bert and Egg have been dutifully taking turns sitting on the nest, with Egg taking most of the day shifts and Bert taking most, possibly all, of the night shifts. Today’s day two or three, depending on if you count the day Bert laid the second egg and they started sitting. I know it’s probably too soon to see if they’re alive, so I’ve been trying hard to wait the extra few days before I candle.
