What did you do with your flock today?

Wow this is your home area?! Amazing!
I live in the outskirts of a protected forest area. I drive through it getting back and forth to town. The park itself is beautiful and walking distance from me...but my house area itself isn't as beautiful. It used to be...lol. Back when it was all ranches here. Now the properties are getting smaller and smaller and lots of new subdivision construction all around here. We have stoplights out here now!
Beigie is acting a lot better the past two days, and yesterday her usual, feral I-can’t-be-contained came out. It didn’t last long after I gave her more snacks, but that’s incredibly encouraging.
Unfortunately (fortunately?) for her, she’s going to be stuck inside for a few more days. I’m not comfortable having her out just yet, at least not while her wounds are still healing.

Today I let Fergus and Squirrel out with the big girls. Fergie is so tall, she looks like a secretary bird. XD

They’re really un-photogenic, but I hope I can get them used to the camera soon. They’re so cute!

And I’ve been training Sonny to jump on my arm when I snap. She already knows, and likes, to jump on me, but I’ve been working on a different cue. In the past I’ve just pat my arm, but this is easier for her to recognize. Now she comes running whenever she hears me snap, lol.
Happy to hear Beigies mending well. She's so lucky you caught it in time and thought fast. ❤️ Fergie is adorable 😍 I absolutely love your Sonny training! I'm curious if I can train Heneviere to do that since she already likes to sit on me. It looks like fun!

We got rain last night ❤️ It was still wet and fresh feeling when I woke up this morning so I went out and just sat with my coffee and chickens. It's been a few hours so it's drying up and heating up...but it was a wonderful start to the day. My whole garden looks happy this morning!

I need to do some work on the baby pen under the new coop. The poor babies I put in there were out this morning and hiding in a corner. They're used to me lifting one edge so they can duck under it to safety all along one side...this time I tried adding two baby sized doors and they didn't find their way back in when they needed it. They're ok...just scared. They're back in their little safe zone and the fix will be easy.

I forgot to put the cover back ony seat and it's been pooped on already🤣...but just one teeny poop so that's ok!

Covered it back up...a clean seat is so much nicer!

I think your garden home is magical ♡ high deserts are nice places IMO.
Your protected park looks a little surreal with all of the upright cacti looking like mother nature's soldiers on watch. I hope they never see that space fall ♡ it is incredible and I am thrilled you shared your view.

Is your dome an old wok? Super cool ♡ I love interesting finds. My stumps are unprotected... 🤔 just figured that was the way it was lol. Maybe I should keep an eye out for a dome.
So mine come running when I go in like maybe she has something ? still never figured out how I got a white bird ? the Son got my camera back on my phone.View attachment 3197785
@PJ your ladies are looking lovely ♡♡♡ and I'm glad you got your ap reinstalled and then treated us to a nice photo! Your girls may not like the heat but sure looks like they enjoy the dry!! Your dirt almost looks like Kekaha!

It's currently 6:30 am here. Yesterday was busy with the critter adjustments. Got some basic yard work in, rode down with DH and the rode my scooter back up so I could have it for cheep up and downs. Man it seemed so slow after the motorcycle- and I ride slow on the bigger bike but I felt at a walk when I started up the mountain with the scooter. Not exactly sure how long it took me but I'd guess about 45 minutes back up.
I grabbed some "Mochi snacks", star fruit and papaya from our trees for me and the chooks and cut up a ☆ for the chooks before I walked back in the house.
I was tired last night from my busy day but managed the movie Grey Man (?) W/ Ryan Gosling. Very action packed but enjoyable even for a non action gal such as myself. Still got to bed early and up super early with the cats sleeping on top of me, scratching, meowing... :barnie looking forward to day 3 when I can just leave a window open for them to go in and out.
Forest of course is in his element here and escaped out the door yesterday, ran around like a bandit, came back to eat, snuggle, purr and nap and then zipped back out again. This is his stomping grounds, he owns this place and is happier than his usual happy self, well all are. Mochi my sight impared baby is not thrilled with the new smells and items in places he does not know but right now Forest has him engaged in a great game of attack and Mochi is holding his own well. Stopping in to check with me, get a reassuring scratch and purr and then back off to hunt Forest, get a snack or find a new smell.
K. Off to say a second good morning to the chooks. I've got another busy day ahead.
Hope all enjoy their day, their flocks, good health and family in what ever form it takes today ♡

Do you use treats to train em with or luvins or what?

Went out a couple times to hold the rooster. He seems to be in a better mood. He actually crowed….very lazy doing it lol (laying down) and when I have been out there he isn’t messed with any of the girls.

Also I love when I walk to the run and they all come up to me!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️

You also may want to consider separating him from the girls for more than a few months if need be. Having cockerels with no older chickens to put them in their place is tricky. I hope he mellows 🤞
Joey is moving out and getting a bachelor pad! I've had it with him being a bootyhead to me. I can't monitor and tend to the babies without watching to see what he is doing...either coming up to get me or pickin on others. He's my oldest...I know I screwed up but my plans definitely changed I'm afraid 2 weeks too late so that meant his hatchmates were already gone.
Anyways...I'm gonna be the old small coop with 4' run extension I made for it behind the big run. This will let him see the others but not be able to harass them or me!
It will get less sun as the run and coop will shade it during hottest part or the day.
Red area on the right is where the 2nd pic of small coop will go.

It just occurred to me that both my roos are 4 Gen. After hatching eggs I kept a better boy and so on till I have basically 2 perfect for me boys. So, that is always something to thing about. Keep him as a donor then keep his son if better and so on.
Well, speaking of being good. Beetlejuice has stepped up. Not over mating and taking charge of the buffs(Lani's) Lady Riby and Ginger Mint.

I've always lived in the country so never dreamed there would be things ya couldn't do in your own yard/property!
