What did you do with your flock today?

BAG TUTORIAL 1

1) Choose bag and decide where to cut. Keep in mind you will visually loose folded bottom and sides

For lack of sewing table etc. I use my butcher block table, level for a straight edge and a rotary cutter. Works great.
20220915_114230.jpg

At this time I also cut myself a 3" wide strip, width of bag for my handles. Set aside.
20220915_114252.jpg

Turn your bag inside out and wipe clean.

I need to put a few pins in the bottom at this point to keep it from slipping as I sew. I sew 2 lines about 1/2 inch and the other 5/8ths from bottom edge. After you are done sewing the bottom mark the top edge (where you will fold and sew. I use my level for convenience. Before I sew top I find it easier to mark and sew corners after marking top.

BAG TUTORIAL  #2

Keep bag inside out for these next few steps.
I have sewn my bottom and marked my top. Now I want to fold my bag side ways and have my bottom seam meet my natural side fold seam.
20220915_114937~3.jpg

You have to get your hands inside and really open it up, stretch your sewing line and find your corner. This part is kind of important as you want good corners. Then I mark with my pattern

I chose 7" as I want it to fit my egg cartons but will use a 6" for other bags. A corner patter will save you headache. Sew corner, mark & repeat on other side making sure bottom tab face the same way on both sides
20220915_115250.jpg

Then fold top and sew using your marked lines as your guide.

Trim all of your threads and turn bag right side. Really get in there and find your corners and push them out. It takes a little effort but you will know when you are square.

BAG TUTORIAL #3

Now your bag should look more or less like a grocery store bag.
20220915_122128.jpg

Time to make and sew on handles.
Remember this one?
20220915_114252.jpg

Open it up and cut out the hard overlapping plastic section.
20220915_114332~3.jpg

Wipe off and cut in half. You now have 2 equal matching pieces. Fold into equal 3rds lengthwise.
20220915_114455~3.jpg

Sew.
20220915_114517~3.jpg

Now mark your bag. I mark mine at 2.5" from corner and my handles roughly 1" from end.
20220915_133242.jpg

Final step! (Almost)
20220915_115735~2.jpg

I sew forward and reverse, then 45° to bottom and forward and reverse again.
After finishing all four sides, cut threads and wipes ink off bags.

*I use a regular pen ink as it wipes away quick and a poly thread which is cray insane but works great once you figure out how to work with it. I had to make adjustments to my machine to get it to work but am very happy with it.

There are a ton of fun bags out there and your favorites may surprise you. These are the ones that are my favorites and that I keep in my truck. Store flat and I just love them.

Have fun! Let me know if I need to clarify anything ♡

I love it! Thank you so much ❤️. I especially love the bag with hen on a mountain of eggs...lol.
Is the poly thread similar to fishing line? Don't know if it's my eyes...but it kinda looks like it?

Yes, it is hard to see and tuff to work with but does a great job. Honestly I don't know any difference. Maybe same thing and different name???
The gal that helped me out called it filament, the sewing supplies gave me a poly and the one I just ordered from Amazon is Nylon and I really like it so far. So, I say Nylon lol https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01KRHOQX2?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title

Today was all about cleaning my store room. So no fun here 🤣.

But Schultz keeps looking small degrees better ❤️ and my kid knows I like sunsets and clouds so she took a pic for me on her drive home. It's so pretty I wanted to share. ❤️

Nylon sounds good! I never was good at sewing stretchy fabrics so the thought of stretchy thread in a sewing machine makes my eye twitch...lol.
