Got some major chicken chores off my plate tonight. Feels so good to have that done. Cleaned out quail pens, chicken coops, waterers, filled feeders, and moved the dog kennel chickens into the brown outside coop with Fluff and Fuzzy and moved the teenagers (couple of them are in the picture) to the empty purple coop. They were NOT pleased! But I had to call an audible because the dog kennel is not keeping down the maggots. I found a huge amount of them again. And it just grosses me out…it’s just not easy to clean out so the flies just find it so easy to set up their own nursery!

My new hatching eggs shipped yesterday and are arriving Friday! So excited!

White Belgian Bearded d’Anvers from a show breeder! One of her hens I’m a sucker for the cheeks and just really wanted some whites to add to my breeding group!

Nice! I still have a bunch to do before we settle in for the winter rains. But this was a big step in that direction! The quail haven’t been cleaned out in over a month so they were super excited for new clean bedding! They are all also molting so there are feathers EVERYWHERE

Ah!!! Those cheeks!!! So these are different from the d'uccles but similar.

My gal is molting and is still beautiful to me I've been picking up the feathers and giving them to bunny to make a nest for the winter

Probably not. I won't bother that nice gal for awhile. She has my # if she needs me. They would make excellent trick or treat bags though... need to work on signage forsure. I made a few more calls but would rather see people face to face and hand them a bag before my pitch.
No feed $ . All proceeds go to help trap/feed/fix/rehome our exploding feral cat population.

I did make some feed $ on chick and egg sales and have a few more people and chicks to match up in the next few weeks but all that is more a community service as opposed to $ making. Maybe some help with feed but chickens are def the "money gone" in @kurby's (funny!) post.
