What did you do with your flock today?

DH is off to Oahu this morning. Hoping to meet his new granddaughter but gets to spend time with his grandson and help out minimum.

He will be gone for a week. I'm sure I will catch up on some things and get behind on others.

Gal texted back 22 hours later for her 6 chicks... I have not responded. I'm somewhere inbetween embarrassed I am so flakey and mad at her communication style. Like when it suits her. I know I did not give her enough time to respond to the last one but frankly did not expect her to. Good ol Murphys law. She is just going to have to hate me I guess.

Major yeah! Hope had a piece of puss (because their puss is cheese like) stuck in her eye that I could not get out for the life of me. I tried numerous times full on but could only do so much. She is eating well and enjoying her freedom though very low in pecking order and still getting used to her limited vision. I keep a close watch on her to make sure no infection creeps back in and I try every so many days hoping time and happiness would be on our side. Well, last night it was, I finally got it and I feel so relieved as I am sure she does too. I guess I was worried that her chances of fatality were increased as long as I could not get that final piece out. I am soooo happy, one less thing ♡ So I have Manono, Hope and a cleft beak chick but it is the molters who are having the worst time. My flock is a mess lol. Definitely extra vitamins, cleaning and new nesting materials for them.
Well, gotta get going on chicken chores as we leave for the airport early.

@TropicalBabies yeah that is very irritating when someone is so wishy washy and has no communication skills! I'm sorry Hope may not be herself anymore! I thought a missing toenail was bad so I cannot imagine!
Joey is definitely better and been crowing all night and day so I took him down a few minutes ago to the run and he immediately started wreaking havoc with every one! Got into fight with mild natured Bluey and would not stop! So I'm bout to believe this may be how he lost his toenail with all the stuff he was doing in just a few minutes time.
Is it possible for a chicken to be better off solo? I know they say they are flock creatures but he does better without em. And they were definitely all doin better without him!
Like whe is enough enough and u rehome?

Do you know anyone with a mature functioning flock? I remember when my first roo ever was the same age as his hatchmates (duh) and it was the same thing, they were not ready for him, no one to stick up for them and he was a hormonal jerk. I took him down to the pasture and the mature roos kicked his butt sideways. I brought him home in under 24 hours and he returned to butthood. Took him back and left him over night. He came home a perfect gentleman.
None of that was intentional but it was all helpful. Nothing like a little reality check. It may help you keep him.

Yeah DH said yesterday that one he released had to be young and said "momma" whenever he let it go...my hubby and his humor lol!
Guess they'll be reunited in an hour or so!

I’m wondering if this one is momma. Or maybe the other one in the video. If they are all together maybe they will stay there rather, or they will travel together.

It was. Being 3 and going out. I don’t coon hunt now and I have never taken my kids. I loved my hounds though. Especially my little dude, Max. When I got him as a puppy he had such long ears that when he ran he tripped over them, rolled got up, just to do it again .

I haven’t done much with them since it’s cold and we are all trying to stay warm , I’m currently trying to make a splint for reaper, one of my silkies,(and my favorite hen but don’t let them know I have a favorite ) leg and I did figure out one of my hens, wolf my Amuracana lavender orp, like celery(my girls HATE vegetables) and I was cuddling with my bunny for awhile and when I put him back down he did his adorable little run back over to his favorite hen, elephant my blue sapphire gem hen

Wow! Congratulations on the raccoon! @Gammas Bearded Babies What a big beautiful and bothersome creature. Sorry you have to deal with that. I can see it being kind of emotionally taxing.
Poop looks OK to me (full disclosure, I'm no expert lol), actually impressive lol. Glad the girls are letting him eat.
If poop gets foamy or more intestinal discharge than usual, those are some of my poop clues.

Oh no @kurby22 ☹☹☹ that just bites. Sorry about your baby ♡♡♡ never easy. Also, hope you did OK at the game and are on an upswing. No fun. At all.

I don’t….I am going to get some in their for them. But I wonder how much Easter eggs would work until I can find some. I have been to the farm store a few times but they haven’t had any in. Aside from ordering online I am not sure where else to find them.

Oh how exciting!! A new baby!! My sister just had hers last week. I have some baby fever going on, but I’m thinking 6 is enough so chickens, ducks and hopefully one day soon…goats will be enough for me!

I’m glad you where able to get that stuff out of Hopes eye! It does sound like you have a hot mess going on. But I wouldn’t feel bad for the lady. 22 hours is a long time to not respond to a text. Especially when you should be expecting one. You have to do what you have to. If she wants more obviously your really good with hatching them. But I would tell her that you have people interested and if you don’t hear from her for so long that you will have to move on. And explain that you have people who have flacked on you before. But I wouldn’t feel bad.
