If your weather isn't hot or freezing, maybe let the kiddos check for eggs when they arrive home. Just sayin'. We all like the excitement of brand new laying. Every season. Never gets old.

The chooks all got let out for ranging today, while I sat out there in low 50's temps for a little over an hour.
No rain, at least. Supposed to have showers for the next week. Dreading the time change next week, which means it will be dusk around 5:00 pm.

Everything's quiet as a mouse here. I'm still getting everything washed and put away here.

I oopsed somehow and broke the auto humidity on one of my incubators when I cleaned them before we left . And I came home to full nest boxes everywhere and a call asking for more chicks. For now the fully working incubator is enough, but when I checked on the ducks there were eggs scattered all over and Peeky was running around upset. I candled the eggs and one had a blood ring, two were different levels of development and one was fresh layed. . So I'm trying out different water bowls to do the tried and true way and I'll pull all the duck eggs. I suspect my young Bonnie is laying too now. I really don't feel like more ducks right now...but I have a hard time tossing eggs once they're growing. On the good side...if they keep laying we'll get to eat yummy duck eggs.

@Gammas Bearded Babies you can usually find wooden eggs at craft stores or you can try Amazon for ceramic, plastic or wood. I like the wood eggs myself. They might get her laying in your marvelous nest box

Oh I'm sorry you came home to all that...I'm sure it is hard when several are laying...hadn't had that problem just yet...anyway now though!
Yeah I've got a couple plastic eggs that I filled with sand so the d'uccles would stop playing soccer round the run with em...they are knuckle heads! One of them is bout to start layin.

If you have a Filipino community around, they may gladly take/buy these. Sounds gross, but they eat partially developed boiled eggs.

Hahaha that’s how I ended up with 7 cockerels in May!! Sneaky broodies hiding eggs from the chicken sitter! I too feel bad not seeing them thru once they’re visibly developing! Baby ducks are so very cute!!

My kids love egg hunting too! We just found a new beautiful blue egg in the teenage coop!! I think Peaches is laying! It’s always fun!!

I've never heard of wooden eggs. They sound terrific. @Gammas Bearded Babies sounds like your chooks don't like the sand filled ones lol. I have a gal who likes to toss out eggs too. She is so pretty it is cute ♡ Hopefully time will make the super cute and fancy egg boxes look inviting.

Giving developed eggs away... for eating... can't unsee that one so wrong on so many levels.
Baby ducks sound waaaay more fun.

Well, I finally got caught up enought to finish 10 bags -only 110 more to go just to hit my minimum lol- made myself a nice dinner and watched a movie. Was a nice peaceful night. DH has moved his flight back 4 days @ least. DSD is a few days over due already, holding up super well and taking it in stride. Very impressive young gal.
I should be going for an early morning walk but instead I hope to squeeze in yardwork, mow and prep for new plantings! Plus laundry this weekend.

Girls are laying gangbusters. Share is hanging in there. Hope is getting better and stronger everyday and the rest are just my goofy weirdos- love them. Had a jailbreak yesterday, it was awesome.

Had to herd a bunch of ladies back in the yard. Let the cockerel wander outside for a bit, hoping someone would adopt him or he would adopt someone but found him back in our yard a few minutes later. Shucks lol.
Time to take photos and put in adds for him. He is cute and sweet and will be good.
Somebody, one of the girls (?) let out a crow yesterday. Same one as up Koke'e I think. Never did solve that mystery as yesterday was the first time I've heard it in months. Sure my cockerels are too young to start crowing and I would be hearing them now right?
