What did you do with your flock today?

Good points for sure
I should clarify the overuse of and dependence in them is moreso the problem.
My DH has made a living at computers the past 28 years...so they do have purpose.
As they do…I too was referring to the over use. Well at least with the point of my kids using them. I see my nephews on a game system all day long. My niece used to seriously scream and throw a fit and hit her mom if her mom didn’t give her the phone or if her phone was dead. My brother didn’t help with that by just giving her his. I see too many people are glued to their phones or devices and not paying attention to the world around them. Social media has become what everyone evolves their lives around. Ok, not everyone but a lot of people. This is about as social media as I have.

@TropicalBabies i didn’t have a computer growing up. It was when I was in high school that schools started bringing them in and then the school decided to start making assignments on a computer (like typed essays) mandatory. I failed an assignment because we didn’t have a computer. We didn’t have the money either growing up for one, my mom went in and basically told them the same thing I did. But I’m also not the only parent to have went in and complained. Another reason I said something is also having 6 kids, that computer is bound to be broke, and I can’t afford to replace it.

So my adventure was a blast. Who would have thought dropping poop off and saving on gas could be so amazing.
I swung by the goat farmer ladies place and she was kind enough to give me a bunch of bags. Always like to see her as she is a fearless woman warrior.View attachment 3309542
I have sooooo many bags. I really need to start obsessing about sewing again- for at least a month. View attachment 3309543
Doesn't that look fun? :th
Oh I love the goat bags, how fun! That pile of bags gives me anxiety though hahaha--I'm not like @FBMcrazy8 and think that looks fun haha. :D
I feel like the Fonz tonight 😁 (does anyone remember the Fonz from Happy Days?) I opened up my broken incubator, pulled out the humidifier that's labeled "do not touch", stared hard at it.. put it back and reassembled the incubator and.....*drum roll*.....it now works! 🤣🤣🤣
YAY! I love when that happens hahaha.
You've all been so busy and such a talented bunch! We don't have kids but I'm a sucker for Halloween and used to do the same as you, Kurby 22. I'd decorate every year and go all out with it. This year I just baked loads of treats and decorated them. Badly!
Any babies hatch yet? I'm sending them all positive energy.

Congratulations Gammas Bearded Babies! It never gets old, the joy when they lay their first egg! I need to see the macrame swing!

My girl, Penelope, crows exactly like a rooster! In fact, i thought it was her brother doing it until i witnessed it. I thought she was a roo for the longest time but then out popped her 1st egg! She now lays 12 days in a row then has a day off - and they say Cochin bantams are rubbish egg producers :lau
Haha, baking with your helpers no doubt!! :D No babies hatched yet (@TropicalBabies), although they appear to be in position for internal pipping and all three are still moving, so today should give me SOME action of some kind! :D My cochin bantams are very good layers too!!! When they aren't broody anyway
I agree with the Xmas cards. I stopped sending them because for a long time I was and nobody but my mom would send them. 😭
@TropicalBabies those goat bags!!! So darling! You had best get to work lol! How are the sells comin along?!

Wow! Would you come work on mine lol!!! I cleaned and packed em all up for the year (again) and I got 4 of em now!?! 🤪

Same here!!! A part of me wants to do away with all technology...go back to simpler times (but much harder!) DDs n I have been discussing now that they both have children and they even are thinking along the same lines! Life is such a rat race and if you are in the "world" so to speak then what purpose does it really have in light of eternity (ok I'll stop there cause I know I prob have different beliefs than others).
That is such a bummer that you guys and @ChicksnMore don't get Christmas cards anymore! My mom was terrible about that kind of thing, so I am too, but my husband is really good about it and all of my friends and a lot of the family send us cards and it's so fun getting them! We get maybe 40 or 50 of them every year! The only holiday that matters more to me than Halloween is Christmas!! That is probably why my mom wasn't into the Christmas cards, she spent all her time decorating and making cookies and such! I redecorate my whole main living area and my bedroom at Christmas! We buy window decals, decorate the house, put up a real tree...and like @ChicksnMore after everything is up I just sit in the dark with only the Christmas lights on and drink hot cocoa and listen to music. I just can't think of anything better than basking in the glow of my Christmas tree that smells like pine forests. :love🎄
Here ya go....Cathy is too smart for her own good!!!

I've seen her on it a few times when I'm down in the yard and NOT giving her treats...but she deserves em after layin her first egg in the right place yesterday!!!
That's so fun that she uses the swing! None of my birds will use theirs!!
Lol I forgot to add the pictures of the ducks!! 🤣
Oh your ducks look soooo happy!! The duck area is just so nice! :) So how often do you have to empty their "pond" and refill it? Living in the very arid West...I'm thinking ducks are not in my near future--we already use a lot of water for our pool. But I also hate the idea of using too much water when water restrictions are constant here! Perhaps when I retire to the PNW and water is less limited...or I have a home with a real pond that filters and cleans itself. For now, I will just enjoy everyone else's ducks! :D

I am also of the opinion that technology and computers and such have their place but easily become a crutch when used too much for too many things. I work in a field that requires understanding the earth and ecological processes...it requires touching it, seeing it, smelling it to really figure it out and yet we spend sooooo much money in the government and academic world moving everything indoors on computers and using drones and satellites to replace people in the field...and we get dumber and dumber about the basics because the computer thinks for them....or at least they think it does. I know that is over generalizing but I am overworked and understaffed because of these viewpoints, and I fear the environment will suffer for it. We cannot understand the ecological systems from our desks. That is my diatribe for today!

Oh wow! That's fantastic! 🤣😍😍😍I'd love one like that for my lot but I doubt they'd use it.

My shoulder's feeling a bit empty tonight as Ferdy has been put to bed in disgrace. He tried to 'service' my girl cat then wouldn't stop crowing about it. Poor cat is traumatised.

Oh I love that part of Christmas!!! A few things I started doing with my kids. 1) getting a real tree. That started when my I married my husband. Kinda makes me sad because my last Christmas as a single mom, I bought a large fake tree for my kids and it hasn’t been used since 🤣. But that is something my husband wanted to do and I’m cool with that as long as he takes it out and cleans up the needles. 2) when we decorate the tree we listen to Christmas music and drink hot coco. 3) there is a town about an hour away that has a drive threw Christmas lights that move with music on a local music station. I took my kids there every year when they were little babies. I also took my brother every year with me. And to this day he still goes and takes his 2 girls. 🥹🥹🥲🥲🥲😭😭😭 4) we decorate cookies together while listening to Christmas music. We ALWAYS make WAY more candy and cookies than we eat. So we started sending it to my husbands mom and giving it away as “gifts”. 5) And surely not least but one of the last major things we do is on Christmas Eve we watch Christmas movies (not that we don’t anyway throughout December) and drink hot coco with a peppermint stick in it (my favorite things) or the kids can pick a candy cane off the tree that my husband always over loads.

I’m not really sure yet how often I HAVE to change it. When the last set died, we left the water alone. We changed it the day we were getting these guys. I cleaned it but not VERY WELL AT ALL!! And when we filled it we had to use our well that has a lot of Iron in it. And unfortunately it isn’t ran through our softener. We were going to use the well that isn’t hooked up to the house and has no iron but it was soooo low we couldn’t suck any of it out. But this time, I spent 3 hours cleaning it and we went to town and got water from the water plant. When it gets to be spring I plan on buying a sucker fish to maybe help it out. I also have heard of Barley bundles, I might try that. I just don’t want to put a fish in the water with how cold it’s going to be getting. I would rather have a tank in the house for it to go in when it does get ucky! I don’t like using so much water either…and the time it takes to clean it. I want filter plants but I’m not sure what would be best. I know they will eat it so I would have a back up area for the main plants to grow.

I think you said it better than I did about technology. And it is taking jobs. For example I like self-check outs. But I also hate them because if something goes wrong I have to wait around for someone to come by and help. And with 6 kids, more often then not I just want to leave the store without anything when I have to wait forever for a person to help me. The grocery store in town also started the self check out and it is FAR WORSE than Walmarts. I can’t even start on that one…

AGREED! Sorry to be all judgey wudgey BUT I think my daughter can fit into that category a bit. Drives me nuts. Dreaming instead of doing. A big form of escapism.

LOVE the ducks! Great photos ♡♡♡ Yes, I too will live vicariously through you duck moms... and cochin moms... and lavender and speckled... yokos , peacocks...

I want all these animals but I have to do it a step at a time. I want Brahmas…which my husband has been planning their coop for a while now, miniature goats, again talking about. Then there is peafowl/peacocks and turkeys. Which I’m not so much of a fan of the turkey idea…but if I got an all white set I would be happy lol, but really that is more my husband wanting them. He doesn’t want the peacocks/fowls. When he was little there was a mean one on the farm he grew up on and it would chase him down 🤣. And of course horses but for me that is way far in the future, like when a couple kids move out. And at minimum is about 6 years if she leaves at 18.

OMGeeze that is hilarious!!! I bet the poor cat is traumatized!!!
Silly boys!!!

THIS! You hit the nail on the head! That I'd so what I can tend to do...then my poor girls are even worse cause it's their generation it began with!
