What did you do with your flock today?

What's going on with them?
Last night I noticed the last one that hatched and I had to help was just pecking its feet and not coming out much from under the brooder plate.
So I checked feet and saw tiny spot of blood and sprayed Vetericyn on it. Made sure it was drinking and eating and gave poultry cell.
It started doing a lot better...til it's just started pecking feet again.
But the other completely normal one was perfectly healthy and this morning I hears chirping and saw it layin on its back.
I sat it up and noticed it's lil head turned sideways.
I talked to very reputable breeder and championship well known and she said it is

too young to have vitamin deficiency.
That it either got pecked in the head by my turd cochins (which I just got moved out from the silkies) cause they were rambunctious.
Or that it hit it's head on the brooder plate.
So idk but it has gone down hill so fast!!!
Now I don't know if I have drowned it wirh poultry cell or if it's just resting or slowly dieing!

Oh gosh, that is a lot. I'm so sorry. I hope quiet time will help them recover. :hugs

I got 2 buff silkies not doin well yall! Please be prayin for em!!!
Oh no! That's so sad, especially when you've waited so long for them. They can suffer from vitamin deficiency even in the shell, especially when either parent hasn't been in tip top condition.I learned that on my University of Nottingham hen welfare course. It might be worth giving a bit of vitamin b just in case.

What are you feeding the runt? If I have one struggling to eat I give them boiled egg yoke pressed through a very fine sieve just to make it easier to eat. Doesn't always work, some just fail to thrive but it's saved a few.

They are on Naturewise Chick Starter...I think it is Nutrena brand.
I added poultry cell to their mash last night and the runt perked up almost immediately...but has gone back to pecking its feet this morning.
I got the week older cochins moved down to the brooder inside the run with the heat plate plugged in. They are havin a blast and thankfully it's a really nice sunny day today too.
I found my old heating pad rather than using my heavy duty heating pad that is BioMed and really heavy that I use myself. So I got it set u and secured the struggling one along with a thermostat to monitor til I get it regulated.
Only able to get a drop or two in every hour or so. I guess that is better than nothing.
The lil turd cochins were quote rambunctious so it may very well have been them..
I just hate feeling so helpless and watching one suffer/struggle.

I know what you mean. It's awful to see, knowing you've done all you can. I'll keep them in my thoughts and prayers.

I watched your video clip with Ferdy. He responded to the little one with very soft maternal clucks and couldn't take his eyes off it so I'm sure he's sending positive vibes too!
Awe how precious!
I got the lil one moved back beside the brooder with its siblings and they are all hugged up to that side with their little faces pressed against the brooder even though there is a paper towel and the brooder separating them from even seeing each other.
When I had a hatch back earlier this year and one had a slipped tendon my grand-cat actually let the little silkie chick snuggle up in his fur! It was beyond sweet!
