What did you do with your flock today?

First baby is out guys!! I lost egg #2 overnight…DIS sadly :-( and waiting on one more baby that’s cheeping but taking its time!

Awe how precious!
I got the lil one moved back beside the brooder with its siblings and they are all hugged up to that side with their little faces pressed against the brooder even though there is a paper towel and the brooder separating them from even seeing each other.
When I had a hatch back earlier this year and one had a slipped tendon my grand-cat actually let the little silkie chick snuggle up in his fur! It was beyond sweet!

Oh bless! It's siblings know it's there and want it to heal too!
My cat, Elliot, is great with chicks too. He let Ferdy and Penelope use him as an inflatable bouncy castle and pull his tail for fun. He never once even raised a paw to them.

@kurby22 Congratulations!! I’m sorry about the one you lost but it looks like the other 2 hatched very well!! I can’t wait to see them all dry and fluffy!!

I didn’t get much done today. My uncle passed away a couple days ago and we had his funeral today. He has always been one of my favorite uncles. He lived an amazing life though. My favorite aunt, his wife, isn’t doing good either. And since he has gone, I suspect it won’t be long before she passes away. It is an eye opener how many are left in my family when we no longer fill a funeral home. We weren’t even close. But most of my family is old…like my Uncle should really be a great uncle to me. My family dynamics is kinda crazy…really though just shows you how much times have changed.

And while I’m gone the coop door shut, so they chickens couldn’t get in to lay eggs. I thought I had that door fixed yesterday but nope…not even close. So it kinda worked out because my BSL laid an egg and nobody pecked it open. But as soon as I opened the door when I got home, Marble hopped right in to lay. There was a couple girls and the rooster that followed her in. The laying Brown leghorn, Lilo started doing the egg song for her . She is the only one to do it.
