So, we have a great mystery. DH called me and said that Rumi, Cock #2, was out with the girls, and Cock E was still in jail. When I got home from my friend's, I did a thorough look over of their fencing, and none seems to be amiss. Thankfully, he seems to be more calm than Cock E, so if he continues to behave, he can stay out of jail.

Today while doing morning chores I had a conversation with a floppy combed hen about her trying to eat the meat off my ankle bone last night when filling the coop water fountain and feeder. I picked her up so I could find the guilty party today and there she was looking innocent but I told her the next time the water hose will get her for that kind of misbehavior. She couldn't deny it as she is the only floppy combed hen in that coop.

Just a small ankle snack she's just telling you she lubs you I am sure ♡♡♡ love chicken chores.

I haven’t had a ton of outside chicken time today, had softball, then birthday party then baseball and then indoor soccer and I’m beat! So I’m getting some chick snuggles while we watch the Sac Kings NBA playoff game—first playoff game since 2006!

While out among the kids free ranging today as I sat on the John Deere watching all the goings on I hear this growl. I thought I had a pit bull about to take my right leg off. As I turned and gazed down there was the meanest RIR rooster you wouldn't want to meet. I slowly looked the other way and there stood a very large and stoic Delaware rooster. I was like the meat in a fight about to start. I hit the switch and drove off unscathed. Wasn't my fight.

How old is Gladys? it's just a blip and she's back to regular good eggs today.

She's just turned 4. I'm hoping it was just a glitch as she laid a perfectly good egg just 2 hours later!

The fly traps with the smelly bait work. Other options as well, diy and purchased.

I use the smelly bait ones and they're very effective but not at all attractive in a small space like mine - and I detest emptying them due to the stink and the fact the chickens try to eat the rotten corpses

All my garden is starting to set seed. Our winter veggie abundance is about over. Think this coming week will be mostly about processing veggies into the freezer to tide us over the summer.

I got one pair of porcelain d'uccles back from the friend I gave them to last year. She had too many roos so gave me back a couple. Anyhow, the rooster is a major goose. He's been spending almost all his time in the nest box. Everytime I walk past I see the hen out walking around and the roo poking his head out of the nest to peek at me. He's making a beautiful nest . I've had roos call hens to nest...but not like this guy does!
