Ouch. That sounds really bad Have you tried dipping in flour or corn starch? Another way to stop bleeding is to wrap a bandage to apply a little pressure.

It's weird cuz before I left him it wasn't bleeding...then to find that this morning was very disheartening. He's such a dang turd too that he's making it extremely difficult to treat him and do what he needs- especially with everything else we got going in!

I love my cuddle bug chickens! They make all the crud worthwhile!

I can’t believe how much work I have to do for this Poultry Expo coming up! It’s a lot to pull together when you don’t have any of the stuff! Haha. Plus I don’t know if my quail eggs are fertilized…it’s really hard to tell through their shells! So now I’m worried I won’t have enough to sell Blah!!

My husband gave in to chicken math. He said we had enough (with 20 chickens & 2 turkeys). When we went in to CAL Ranch, we came out with 3 french pearl guineas, 2 light brahmas, 1 golden comet, and 3 assorted color laying chickens (no idea the breed). So we set up the baby brooder again. Plus he gave me permission to buy frizzles if I see them this weekend at the Chick Days event.

Tonight I will be measuring the fenced in area to start building chicken shelter/playground I want to build.

Guineas! I want guineas... can't have them unless I give up something else. Hope you post lots of pictures of all your littles! Sounds like the birds have you well hooked!

I am so excited for the guineas! I was surprised when he said yes. The line on the info card said good flocker protectors, which is what I think had him saying yes. I've always loved having farm animals. He was Navy so we never had them while married until we move to Idaho to settle down. Now I'm pimping out the chicken area while I convince him to get other farm animals, too. I think I'll have to settle for a large chicken area and large garden for now.

I am so excited for the guineas! I was surprised when he said yes. The line on the info card said good flocker protectors, which is what I think had him saying yes. I've always loved having farm animals. He was Navy so we never had them while married until we move to Idaho to settle down. Now I'm pimping out the chicken area while I convince him to get other farm animals, too. I think I'll have to settle for a large chicken area and large garden for now.

Sounds like a fun time! Creating something new that you and yours get to enjoy for a long time. Nothing better! Thinking of goats or have your sights on bigger animals down the road?

It is my first Expo as a vendor!! I am excited, but nervous! I am worried my ladies have been too stressed by the rat issues to accept fertilization! Guess I will see...I lost a roo to the rats and a hen and one other is still pretty mangled and gimpy . I am really enjoying it though--even if it is stressing me out!

That is exciting! I am originally from Idaho! What part of the State are you in? I grew up in Boise and went to school up in Moscow. Idaho is a great place to have chickens and a garden and some goats and guineas, and....hehe. Welcome to the thread!
