What did you do with your flock today?

My first broody hen hatched technically 4 babies. She left the nest by the time one had piped. It took a lot to just get her to lay on it while the babies that had hatched ate and drank. Well she moved at a bit but she did take the egg with her. Well i went out to check on her and she had left it behind after the little one hatched. It was so cold. I got it inside and in an incubator. The little one fluffed up just fine over night and by the next morning i was able to give it to momma without issues. The other egg I had checked and there was still movement but no pips so I gave it to the second momma and that baby hatched just fine. I have another day for momma 2 to hatch the eggs she is on.

Congratulations @TropicalBabies on almost $1,000!!! Your bags are so amazing! I’m gonna get another needle and just change EVERYTHING out on my machine and try the settings you suggested to me.

I want to try these too—I’ve seen the ads and it’s super intriguing. Would be amazing if they worked!!

Great reviews. No butt ☹😁.
I have used mosquito bait stations b4 and I like the premise, just not sure they worked... 🤔🦟
After reading reviews & checking shipping (cuz that can kill the deal for me sometimes) I took the plunge, 1 set =4 traps with 4 additional baits got me free shipping. So this brings my total up to about $250 ** YTD total, but who's counting lol to kill mosquitos 😂😂😂 will be oh so gratifying to see full traps and mosquitos not laughing at me cuz I think they are! I'm not sure I can, but hoping I can put inside of coops, says they attract mosquitos (yippee!) so may not be ideal for inside.
I'll keep you folks posted ♡♡ and BIG mahalo! @Gammas Bearded Babies !

The zappers are still plugging along and doing well. I do worry about how long they will last, only time will tell. And Dyna is filling up again 👍 so that is good cept another front is bearing down on us as I write and that means more standing water and more of the never ending mosquitos. 😖

I will! :D I am thinking about offering coupons for later in the season--if I only have 20-30 quail and some of the chicken eggs...and sell out I could do a 2 for 1 sale or something if they come back to me later. Will depend on how sales go!

Yeah the rats have really made my life miserable lately!! GRR. I found some eco-friendly rat poison that won't kill things that eat them (corn meal and baking soda mix), so I'm hoping that has some success too. The traps are working periodically, but not completely. They seem to have learned quickly and now avoid them! I wish that wasn't the case because the traps feel more humane and I hate doing things that cause pain and suffering...but my Earl the Pearl was taken and missing his head and that image was enough to bring on the poison. I also dug out the soil in their pen and laid another layer of hardware cloth and covered them with bricks and then reburied them--and poured the poison in the holes they'd made...so hopefully those that survived feel a bit safer now. I am so sad and carry a lot of guilt :( Earl was just a super sweet roo and I feel so bad his life ended so horribly :(. But it is the life of an owner of prey animals I am learning...never really gets easier though. This sweet girl came to greet me when I brought them treats the other day. She’s so sweet 😍.

What a beautiful color that baby is! Good catch on the babies and congrats on the momma hatch!

I use altosid and mosquito fish in my pond and pond buckets here and it does a great job until monsoon season starts. Once the rains come the mosquitoes seem to find places to breed in the plants and wet earth. I was thinking of trying scattering altosid in the garden this year when monsoons come since it's a granule and the news says it's the vegetation that gives them breeding places. Might try that Tom's stuff though. Sure would be nice to have a mosquito free summer!

DH finished the fiberglassing on the one big pot so hope to get that filled and attracting 🦟 and their larve and then add fish. Gal who I want to source fish from is on holiday for another 1.5 weeks so now is about the time to start the water.

My little starter pot fish are doing wonderfully! I think they have multiplied already! Chickens have stripped and eaten all plant matter out of it, not happy... but 🤷‍♀️ that is what they do. I will source more. Maybe spider plants or syngonium 👍 easy peasy. Good project for today. Thanks for the inspiration 🐔💕 people!

It is cloudy and raining or threating to. Some windy bluster with the leading edge of the front. Not bad but think they are expecting some flooding someplace.
Scraped boards, cleaned up and de-moonscaped run, de-moonscaped garden and raked leaves. Bleaching waters.

I wish I had a better catch today. One hatched and both hens killed it. 😭😭😭 I brought the other 5 in and have them in the incubator. We will see if they are accepted when they hatch and I take them out there.

Honestly, if they even hatch. I only see movement in one egg.

Perfect term for runs. Moonscape. Great job keeping the kitties supported. $1,000 is impressive! 😒 about all the mosquitos, but you are helping decrease their numbers. Don't know if you have streams there that you can go net your own fish. Good thing it's warm for them to multiply year round. How's the Koke'e project planning coming?

Seems you did well with the other catches. Bad hens. Poor baby. I'd be cautious in taking the chicks out there to put with those hens. Scary thought. What a lovely chick color. I think all chicks are so adorable 😍
