What did you do with your flock today?

Feeding the colonies is wild. They are such good kitties. They sit and wait in the designated spots and my headlights catch their eyes, so i know i am close. This rout has 30 colonies and takes 2 hours from start to finish. It took me 2.5 as I had to back track once and was a bit slower.
I went through 70lbs of crunchies with 20 cans of cat food mix in.
The colony cats are fat and healthy and semi friendly. Kitty soup is a lot of fun.
I am tired as I did not get much sleep. Still lots to do ♡

What a beautiful flock!
Thanks Tumbleweedlynn!

That is wonderful! Do they have a spay/neuter and release program for feral kitties there?

The usual as far as the water and feed chores this morning before an out of town Dr. Appointments for both of us. Once home I opened the doors and said have at it kids. After I eat I'll go out and set with them until they hit the roosts. Hoping it will cloud up and put them to be early as we are beat.

Absolutely. One of the goals is to attract more wild kitties, get them trapped and fixed and put them back into a colony where they will be fed and looked after. If they need medical attention, they trap and help. Pretty cool.

Having a quiet, lazy morning here. My little dog Tuck has been doing his "gimme four things" routine. So he got offered breakfast, then 3 drinks of water and then tucked under the blanket and cuddled til he stopped shaking from cold 😂

Thinking about how to get my roof coat done. Used to be I'd climb right on the roof and work easy but I don't trust my foot enough to feel comfortable on a roof anymore. Wondering how well I can do it from a ladder with a long pole? I'll figure something out. Kinda wishing I'd gone ahead and used metal over the wood instead of deciding to use roof coat 🫤 But with the roof coat it ends up a lot cheaper and almost 100% recycled coops which is nice.

Hung a bunch of beer can flowers yesterday...well, these are seltzer can flowers 😂. But pleased with them anyhow. The chickens couldn't care less but I enjoy them. 😂View attachment 3501379
My daughter has a fancy name for my building style but I can never remember it. Certainly makes it sound good though! Gotta love kids that can put a positive spin on things!
That's a great place to get a Calendar Print..... :)

She ain't purty, but she swings.
Got the door pretty much installed on my run. Had to fight it a little to make it work, but all's good. I'll put the lock set on tomorrow so it has a real door knob.

And I'll rig up some kind of frame around that big hole in the door and secure it with 1/2" HWC. The window that used to be on the door is on the east side of the coop now. The chicks dig it.

Included today's pic of the chicks just because....

I worked so hard today that I deserved getting an 8 pc fried chicken from the store's deli. They make really good fried chicken! I might share some with the chickens.

Edited to add:

I cut up some of the fried chicken breast meat and hand fed to my little ones. They sure love their chicken! It's incredible how fast and accurate they are with their beaks, picking even the tiniest pieces of meat from my fingertips. So accurate, I barely feel them grabbing the morsels. And it's fun to watch. I haven't laughed so hard in a long, long time.

Chickens are therapy.

I'm glad I got 'em.
