What did you do with your flock today?

When they escape,( Onyx was the naughty one yesterday, the one who was in broody jail recently) she visited me in the garden), my greatest concern is a coyote hit and run. I'd lost her mom last summer that way, broad daylight.
That is a bit of a terrifying thought and reality. ☹️

Oh, my! They do know how to manipulate you, don't they? So sad about your sewing machine. Hope the issue is fixed soon. Yay, for Forest! That's a big one, although in the hale not so pleasant.
Yes. The screaming gets me almost every time. I think they had a legit complaint though, baby pooh in the nest boxes 😝 2 out of 4 to be exact.
I'm not a big fan of having boxes with only access INSIDE of the coop yet. Eggs seem to get dirtier (yes, baby pooh) and harder to access. Plus, I don't like to bother hens laying when I scrape boards. I like giving them breathing room, but it is what it is. Miss my open coop ♡ good way to go.

A strange turn around that I have had with the older version of my flock. Mazie, who was feeling poorly a few months ago has perked up and has been back to her old self for awhile now. Her sister Indie on the other hand has slowed a bit last week and yesterday her comb was thin, flopped and a little blueing. Heart♡? I removed her saddle for her complete comfort, though she only has advanced pin feathers and it was loose enough. I'll see how she does without. Trimmed her butt feathers as she started to collect poop and I want to make sure of no flystrike. Different flies up here, lots of blowflies. Keeping and extra eye on my old gals. I know death is inevitable, just want to make sure they are comfortable ♡

When i got back up last eve and checked on flock, Forest was locked onto a dark hole where coop and run meet, and where I have the grandpas feeder... I would have needed a crowbar and dynamite to remove him from his cemented position. Guess it must have been something very interesting under feeder snacking on dropped feed. Unfortunately he was outside of the 2x4 wire with no clean shot at whatever 🐀. I will plug that hole today and make the vermin go around, hopefully giving Forest a better shot at a kill.

I cracked open three eggs for breakfast and ended up with five yolks. Two doubles!
