What did you do with your flock today?

That is just so amazing ♡ I have never had co broodies. I think it would be fabulous. Your beeeeebies are amazing. Keep the photos coming! Looove the kitty photos ♡♡♡♡♡

Always fun visiting the zoo. Thank you for sharing your fun.
Glad everyone is holding up. Hope the heat stays manageable for you both/all.
Yeah I was amazed that they were working as a cute little team! No fighting or being mean to babies and all committed to the eggs 😍😍

I have 16 chicks after all are hatched! 4 lavenders,1 white, a bunch of mottled, and a few blacks! They’re all so cute 🥰

I don't know as many survive their mom's weight as do. I want to build a small flock of light weight broody bantams and not let heavy hens set. I don't dare let a 10 lb Dark Cornish hen set. Big fluffy Buff Orpingtons still make me nervous. As kid I had a pet white rock hen that raised all that she hatched with no problems. I need to get a consensus on the better bantam mothers before I start down that road.
Yeah it’s so crazy they dedicate all that time and then just squish them without any awareness! These d’Anvers have been the best mommas but my silkies are truly the most reliable and dedicated mommas ever. Highly recommend them!

I had to pull out a couple of chicks today cuz momma was stepping on them and one baby ended up dying 😢😢 I’m glad your baby is okay ❤️

So now that the last baby hatched I removed 3 of the broody mommas so they aren’t so crowded. I am currently holding the last baby…not sure it’s gonna make it either. It got rushed out cuz the broody stepped on her after partially out of the shell and was literally standing on its head. 😫
Hope the little one makes it :hugs

I love the little birds. I could carry on forever about why they're the best 😂

So hot and sticky, yuck. Our weather is being effected by a passing hurricane many hundreds of miles away. Hope it brings us some rain but I highly doubt it.

Had to head up to change water and scrape boards this morning. Gave them some yummy egg and veggie scraps. Mountain flock is well and my in-laws are up there keeping them company.

Down here in sweatsville, I gave the flock cold fruit and fresh water a few times today. The young gals seem to be handling ok. Even handling the constant attention of little people pretty good. One little cockerel has been a favorite and all I can think of is how he will probably turn into a jerk roo after this lol. Pretty sure my granddaughter would dress him up in doll clothes if we had them.
Stepson poured a pad in my roo coop. I'll dig out some tile so they an place a few and I will mosaic the rest. Then it will be for foster kittens.
Cats are grumpy to be down the mountain and so am I lol.

PS. Forest caught a mouse last eve 😁👍
