What did you do with your flock today?

Had to attend a headstone unveiling ceremony today that went until 1, and it was so hot by the time we all got home we were both emotionally and mentally drained. Rushed thru heat essential chicken chores and then spent much of the rest of the day inside with the AC. I did go out multiple times to check on the broodies and the babies…they’re hot but refuse to shirk their missions! There are 4 more eggs with babies moving inside, but not sure they will make it. Will see in the morning! One of the mommas started foraging in the nest box shaving and was burying the babies 🤦🏼‍♀️ had to stop that! They all had this look like “what the heck is she doing??” 😆 They are all just so tiny and precious and the mommas are tag teaming all of them quite well. Each momma has about 4 babies and one has 4 eggs. ❤️

We brought Shadow inside for a bit today, and he loved it. Decided to give Koda some time inside to meet him and Shadow was not afraid to whack Koda in the nose with claws and hiss 😆 Koda then jumped up on the couch and hid his face under my arm 😆😆 Big wimp! Hehe

And last, Aria decided Miyuki needed love and brought her out later after shadow went to bed…and only Aria is able to get Mimi to chill out and lay with her in the living room. We all try it and she just immediately takes off down the hall and hides again. Aria has the magic Mimi touch 😍😍😍

I have that basket. Lol.

The chickens got fermented feed today, and some of the ladies I separated out from the flock got to re-join it today (they re-grew the rooster wear feathers)... I tried to put 4 hens back in the flock, 2 of them decided they liked the separated flock better... So I'm trying again tomorrow.

Killed a 4-5 ft bull snake that decided to decline my previous invitation to live at the other side of my property. I'm a little impressed he found his way back to the coop, but unfortunately I didn't want to feed him my chickens or their eggs.

You could always mate his daughter back to him! 😍

Another surprise baby hatched late last night. It looks like it might be white 😁

Maybe if he had a daughter, I would 🤣
It's a good excuse to hatch some more chicks to get some girls but knowing my luck they'd be more boys....🤣🤣
Seriously though, I wonder if mating back to Penelope would up the chances of getting lavender chicks? She's his full sister and also splash.

More lovely baaayyybeeees! Looks white to me 😍😍😍

Too beautiful😍😍😍😍

I had to rescue one out of the brooder kids. 8 week olds. It is weak and not able to grab and growl with its siblings and cousins at the feeder. The farm nurse has it now and will keep her in isolation today and maybe tomorrow. B complex will be given once it has a full crop. On my way to the Co-op for another 400 lbs of feed and some feed for me across the street at my feed store. I don't work in this heat without bananas. Must have that real potassium.
