Almost forgot. Thought the kingsnakes were taking over and I was so pleased to say this year was our first without seeing a rattlesnake. But yesterday our neighbor called and wanted to meet at the fence. I was on my way back in when Iri barked. When I went to her I heard that distinctive rattling. Turned out we had one on the porch trying to nap under my workbench. What's a snake even doing out and about this time of year?

So still waiting for a rattlesnake free year. On the bright side, only one this year.

No little red hen. I just have no idea what happened to her. They are in a very secure run and free range area. There are no signs of break in and not little pile of feathers anywhere.

This has never happened here. I don't know what to think.

Good morning all! Welp, the holidays are pretty much here. Hoping to get AJ's tree and house lights up after I mow all lawns. Chickens just gotta be patient today as I will keep them in the run untill I have finished those chores.

My bike came in on Monday, so that filled much of my day. She is a sweetie.

Though this photo reminds me of something out of a Kong movie
Have my first 50 break-in miles on her and itching for many more.

Kittens... Tally Ho had his surgery this weekend ♡

I have Tally and the 3 fosters inside our little home mostly. They are holy terrors and my house is a mess but, it's extremely entertaining and they are becoming more trusting and sweet every day. Just like regular kitties ♡

So sorry to hear this. I've lost a couple that are still a mystery. It does happen. I think they got loose some way and wandered off to far for their own good. I finally gave up on them returning after a few weeks of mourning for them.

So sorry to hear that. It's the only thing I can think of too. Always when one has wandered through the gate, she has been desperate to get back inside. I can only assume Queen Bee wandered out of the run and into the forest on a big adventure. I'm sure she would have come back the next morning unless something happened to her. I'm quite certain she is gone. Since DH doesn't count beaks every day, I don't even know when she disappeared. Any time in the last few weeks. I've looked around the forest for any signs and found none. It's a mystery for sure. A sad one. Hard to not know what happened, isn't it?

We do have some totally free range chickens in the neighborhood. I keep watching them to see if there is a little red haired girl hanging out.

As I headed out to do afternoon chores Honey flew in right on schedule. I took over a handful of 27% game bird starter/grower and she refused it. If looks could kill I wouldn't be telling this. I picked her up pack her little fussy self inside to see what ma had she might settle for. Ma pulls out a slice of sandwich bread and as soon as she got it in Honey's range she grab a hunk out of it that would choke a pelican but she got it down. I took the bread and rolled it up in my hand so I could control the size piece she could get. She pecked it down to the last crumb. It's hard to fuss at them when they are so cute and lovable.

Hello! This is a place to post pictures/talk about what you and your flock have done today.

I was on a zoom call earlier and Iris, my rooster, decided to stand behind me and crow repeatedly. Thankfully I was on mute, but it was still annoying. They couldn’t see him, but they could see me trying to make him quiet, which was a little embarrassing.
