Ouch! I hope it stops hurting soon. Have you considered getting a pair of rubber gloves to store on the other side of the gate? I believe that would keep you from getting zapped and they go quite far up the arm.A couple days ago I had gone out to check food, clean the bedding, and let the girls out. The gate shut and latched behind me, which before a couple days ago would not have been a big deal. When I got ready to go back out, I absent-mindedly reached through the fence and around the post to unlock it, which I did not succeed at because my wrist touched the hot fence wire strung around the door frame. ZAP! Oh, great, so now how do I get out? No phone on me, no one is home.....
Luckily my hands are small enough to fit through the 2x4 fencing, and I have a 6' pole just on the other side of the fence, so I was able to flip the latch with it.
DH laughed when I told him. I said, " Yup, the fence works, and it kinda hurts." The wrist that touched it was the one I had had surgery on a few months ago. I think the shock did something with the metal inside. Hurts a bit, still, but not enough to affect usage.
Kitties can be so naughty! My oldest kids kitty is our curtain player. She also likes to sit behind me on the couch and use her paw to scoop up my hair so she can lick and chew on it. She tries to chew on the edges of books when I'm reading and put tooth marks on the corner of my daughter's phone screen. At least she only tries to chew those while we're holding them. I keep telling her she's supposed to meow for attention but she keeps doing her thingI tried wooden blinds. They looked like they had woodworm and had been set upon by beavers by the end of the first week!
My little 'darling' flooded the dining room by chewing the fish tank air tubing overnight...
I must have been a d'Anver in my last life. ..Sooo many picturesSo glad it’s a digital camera! I definitely have found compliance in certain breeds more than others!
The d’Anvers would have NONE of it haha, just a lot of face planting and refusal to move or immediate removal of costume attire
There were a lot of blurry photos and set fixes after they tantrumed over the hats especially
Aria thought it was the best thing ever

Welp, all things pass, that's forsure. So much to be thankful for in your world. What beautiful flowers. Lovely weather, Honey and a great maiden voyage, beautiful, healthy chickens and kitties, good health reports, new forever homes for them, and even a feral who feels at home in your coop.
The only thing that would really bug me are having flies and mosquitos in the house.
Oh that's terrible. I hope your hand is well soon!!A couple days ago I had gone out to check food, clean the bedding, and let the girls out. I'm so sorry to hear about this!!!Welp, all things pass, that's forsure.
Last night, I received a panicked call from my son staying up Koke'e. "A hunting dog was in the run murdering my chickens".Seems the dog snuck in before my son shut the run door for the night. My son has never experienced anything like this and was not sure if the dog would go after him, but he managed to grab a stick and get him out of the coop. Could have been a total nightmare and it is... but I only lost 2 girls, 2 wounded, ill see what i can do ♡. One is still missing but she is probably hiding in the forest. Seems making it out of the coop was a good thing. The others I found in the forest were unscathed. Spider is ok... whew!!!
I beelined up the mountain with my pellet gun but dog was long gone. It was a wet and foggy night, glad I went up to get control of the situation.
Time to bring the rest of the flock down the hill. My son feels terrible, he loves them ♡, but it happens and can and does happen to anyone. My poor babies.![]()
My friend’s son just adopted a small parrot a few months ago and that’s what she does when strangers come into the house! Lays down and totally plays dead!We give a vitamin E and half of a B Complex nightly. Tonight we got the little girl chicken playing possum again when I put my hand in to pick her up. I must get some video of what this little girl does now. She is getting better at her little show. She is a normal looking young 7month old pullet until caught in the kennel. She plays dead when held. I got her meds down by stroking the bottom of her neck and held her while ma changed out her bedding. Then ma took her and she still played dead with a limp body. Ma finally put her down so her feet could touch the bottom of the kennel. No response. She finally put her head and neck through some gyrations that are unbelievable and after we backed away stood up normally and went over to her food dish for a peck or two. She is a show girl if there ever was one. Not sure of her breed. She either is one of unknown crosses from a free range hen and rooster or came as a surprise from Murray McMurray. She is a class act regardless.
Ohhhh noooo! This makes me so sad for you and so angry at the irresponsible people that think it's okay to let their dogs roam free wherever they want. I bet your son was totally traumatized, its taken me 3 full years to reach a point where I don't tailspin and have accepted to some degree the nature of owning livestock/poultry. It's not for the faint of heart and when it's because of someone else's blatant irresponsibility it is even more difficult to swallow. Hugs friend, I'm just sick for youWelp, all things pass, that's forsure.
