What did you do with your flock today?

Man, you’ve had a rough couple of days in the injury department! How is your hand doing after the electric shock? I’m so sorry you hurt your ankle too! Glad it’s just a sprain, but sometimes those take longer to heal! I know mine did 🤦🏼‍♀️

I’m so glad to hear Olena is doing alright and trying hard to heal! You might consider adding hemp hearts to her diet too, as it’s supposed to help with her types of health needs. They’re pretty tasty too! She’s so lucky to have your love and attention ❤️
Thanks for your sympathy.. My hand has recovered. Wore the ankle brace until last night. It got uncomfortable, and it caused a knot in my inner calf. Wearing boots to keep it stable. I'll see about getting hemp hearts, thanks! A few days ago she was able to get herself upright from lying on her side, and then promptly fell over. She likes cat kibble, so she gets some for good protein. I had a great dream last night that she ran downstairs, out the front door, and to the backyard where her friends and new pullets were. I hope soon.

Yes I will! But I sure wish my chickens would eat cabbage. They won't touch the stuff. They eat kale and they eat Brussels spouts leaves, but cabbage, no way. I threw it all in the run anyway. They can grind it up into compost for me. And maybe it'll attract some bugs.
Interesting. Mine love cabbage. They get it all the time. Whenever I buy it for us, I buy an extra for them.

I am with the chickens on this own. Cabbage is not something I enjoy. It lacks in all the things that make food taste good 😆😆
I love cabbage, especially raw and dipped in ranch dressing. Sometimes I slice it thin and combine it with a can of sauerkraut, about 2 parts cabbage to 1 part kraut. It ightens up the sauerkraut flavor and makes it go a lot farther. Plus it's easier on my digestion.

I might try chopping it finely next time and see if that makes a difference. Maybe I can get them to acquire a taste for cabbage if I work on it.

After picking up 7 eggs from the nest box this morning I gave the girls a few ripe, red tomatoes and three bags of salad mix. One of them had chopped cabbage in it. Maybe they'll eat it.

If those potatoes are not organic they will not sprout and make potatoes. Potatoes get sprayed with a chemical that just slows their sprouting way way down. The chances of getting them to make a potato plant is poor odds in Vegas.
Just checked, and the little new potatoes are organic so I should be able to plant them. But I can't tell if they're red or purple potatoes. Either will work, I guess.

I have an actual cabbage hanger which I attach to the side of the coop on the hardware cloth. Stick a whole cabbage in there and in two days it is gone. They love pecking at it. The hanger is intended to swing free, but that seems like teasing the chickens and just too hard to enjoy. So I have it against the wall for support. That's just me. I wouldn't let DH hang a free hanging corn holder for the squirrels either. Just give them the corn. lol

Biscotti's such a scraggly chick! I tentatively think Biscotti's a little roo. If he was human, he'd have a diagnosis of some sort! But...he's doing well and getting stronger everyday. He moves like the world's tinest drunk sailor 😂. He gets cold so easy because he's under feathered...no dense fluffiness to him. He's going to be the sweetest bird though and I'm hoping he grows up strong and well feathered. Now that he's out of that poor mail abused egg things can only get better right ❤️

Biscotti is adorable. I hope he grows into a big beautiful rooster! If only there were chicks available at this time of year to give him companions. But, I think you'd be hard pressed to find them anywhere You'll have to be his company. Sweet little thing.

Smoky was found laying in the mud tonight at coop in and my son thought he was dead. :-( It appears that he got in fight and was covered in mud and has a ripped up wattle. Poor guy was definitely in shock :-( So he’s in the house, got a warm bath soak, and then a blow out and is now sitting with me and getting loved on. Poor dude :-/
