I had to Google the meaning of "Kama'aina".Ah, I see! Got my directions wrong
I may not have stated it correctly. Lucky you, no predators there. But you may have things like stick tight fleas, lots of mosquitos, mongoose. Check @TropicalBabies posts.Ah, I see! Got my directions wrong
oo, thank you for this. I was looking for things to watch out for and this really helps!I may not have stated it correctly. Lucky you, no predators there. But you may have things like stick tight fleas, lots of mosquitos, mongoose. Check @TropicalBabies posts.
Not sure how your feral cat/dog/pig populations are there.oo, thank you for this. I was looking for things to watch out for and this really helps!
Also rats. Not sure how your feral cat/dog/pig populations are there.
Yeah, rats are on my radar to keep a close eye out. Pigs are around, but I am far less concerned about them than stray dogs, cats, mongoose, and rats. Not sure how I am going to deal with the bugs other than relying on Google, local farm stores, and the kindness of BYC/friends.Also rats.
That sounds like a great set up too. Someone on BYC had a post about brooding outside in our coop and I just had to try it. I has worked great for me for a couple years now.Sounds like you have a sweet setup. I would definitely prefer that. My friend gave me her brooder, as she is giving up having chickens so she can travel more. No more plastic totes. This brooder is engineered well, has clear sides so now the girls have gotten used to us and don't run everytime someone approaches. I have the lamp just sitting on top of the very thick hardware cloth on the top. The solid bottom is removable, so if wanted, we can just use the top on the grass or wherever, maybe even inside the coop with the big girls straight on the dirt floor.
