What did you do with your flock today?

It has here, too. We have had a continual downpour for 4 days with very few breaks. It's been a rubbish summer so far.
4 days is a long time for rain 😫 it’s done raining here…for now. I just came in from morning chores and the sun is shining ☀️

Despite my soggy conditions, I do not envy your heat. I do very badly with hot weather too 😫. I just like temperate and dry. I'm o.k. with cold too, just as long as it's not peeing it down!
Poor Jager! I take it you've upped his B and C vits in case there's a neurological aspect? It seems odd to me too that he can't stay on his feet when he could before.
Your new teenage birds are soo pretty! I've totally fallen for your white baby - that cheeky little face reminds me of my Penelope. And that lacing on your cockerel is just lovely!
Do you remember me telling you about how Ferdy has inherited his dad's red leakage but Penelope didn't so I suspected it just carried down the male side? Well, what do you think of Stan now? He's always had a few scattered red feathers, giving support to my theory, but since his last moult he's got a definite rust tinge to his blue now (according to the gene calculator he should be splash or blue, split for mottling!)

He's an oddbod for sure!
I can’t believe how much Shadow has grown. He's just gorgeous!
And Lola! Oh my goodness!!! How adorable! 🤣 ❤️ 🤣
Stan is a beautiful boy!! He looks like a quite content guy! ❤️

Put "Blue Ice Blocks" in the waterer, 97 degrees with matching humidity, it's brutal, even in their natural shade.
That's a good idea! When we go on trips I freeze single water bottles and use them as ice packs. I could do that with my 5 gallon waterer...

Aloha gang, Happy Monday!
This morning I tossed a bunch of papaya, chicken, popcorn and broccoli to my flock. After our long hard fight with sticktight fleas, it is wonderful to see them happy and not scratching and miserable. No signs of reinfestation 🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞.View attachment 3885690
No freeranging yet as I have to head down the mountain before sunsets and make it back up after sunsets. Flock is small enough, and run is big enough. We still have green grass in it so 👍 good for now.
Blind Nina is well. Been chicken sitting for well over one year now as her dad dropped her off over 1 year ago.She is just finishing upma mild molt.View attachment 3885709
Going to head out and refill waters, feeders, collect eggs and pick up poop. The glamorous life of a chicken keeper now that all the hard work is done. Well, most of it.
Still need to pick up supplies from the hardware store and redo a bunch of fence and wire down the mountain. Probably later this week. Just making sure all are settled up here first. Seems good. plus i like and need the break. I was a little under the weather myself for a bit.

I spent a couple days in the yard up here. Had to weedwhack the lawn. too many roots and hills to bother with bringing up a lawn mower.View attachment 3885703Then DH came and helped me rake all the rubbish up and toss in green waste pile.View attachment 3885705View attachment 3885706
Nice to have that done along with some trimming and plant cleaning.View attachment 3885707View attachment 3885712View attachment 3885717

Stayed up the mountain again last night. Fosters are running and playing games in the cabin with Tally Ho. What a bunch of tornadoes 🌪 . DH took our adult cats down the mountain as they were miserable being locked up... and a major pain in my okole.

Welp. Better get after it...
Hope everyone's day is a good one!
I love the green growth over the coop.

Hmm. 🤔🤔🤔

Came home from vacation and was amazed at the changes with the chicks.

Remember "Little Chick"? The one who was pecked and left for dead, twice? Well, he grew a pretty handsome tail while we were away:

He attacked my feet last night after we got home. I just stood and watched until he gave up. Today he gave a few perfunctory pecks, then wandered off. Good.

Pullets I am keeping:

Priscilla aka Prissy

I'm going to keep a boy from the latest hatch, "yellow band". He is now dubbed "Silas". Here he is with Esther and Prissy:

He'll be my "roo in the queue" in case Zack doesn't work out.

I'll probably take the other two boys to the auction this Saturday.

Glad to be back, I missed my daily interactions with my flock.

They are all so gorgeous!!! Remind me what the breed is. I think I need to get a couple of these next year.
