What did you do with your flock today?

I have a friend who tells me every time I see her that my eggs are better than any others home grown in the area, and of course than the store. I still say no. I like them better too. :lau
We need more of you flock keeping secrets if your eggs taste better than other keepers ♡♡♡ I'm up for some improved techniques.

Stunning! I think if I lived there, hubby would have to drag me off that mountain 🤣😍
Absolutely!! Especially those of us who live in a warmer climate 👍👍👍
It is such a beautiful reprieve. For me, def one of the best things about living on the westside, if not THE BEST THING is easy Kokee access. Little micro head and body vacation.

Good morning or aloha kakahiaka chicken world!
🌺Happy Monday, I hope all are safe and well. Some tough news coming out of California and my heart breaks for all of the good people who are struggling. Truely, by the grace of "god" go we. A horrifying reminder on how fragile all of our communities are as our planet heats up. I hope we all act accordingly as we stand in solidarity with each other and our struggling planet. Hundreds of opportunities every day to reduce, reuse and be better guests to mother earth. I know I will be good today and will also looks for ways to be better.

Back to chickens... and eggs... ♡♥︎
Beetle and the girls seem as happy as I am that they are home. The bugs are more plentiful, kitchen scraps come more often and water is always fresh. With only 15 chickens the mess is minimal. I have not let them out to freerange. So bad. But I spin the compost every other day to make up for it. Not sure what my egg count is going to be yet but I am guessing not much, lol so far max is 2 a day.
Beetle is awesome and it is nice to hear him chime in the reminder that sunrise is in 1 hour... or maybe 4 or 6 hours, but who's counting right? He has the lowest crow out of the .... dozens i hear every night and early morning, so he is golden.

I don't think I have any secrets I didn't learn right here on BYC. Honestly, I think keeping a clean coop is the major contributor and then good foods, treats and veggies, plenty of room to run, stretch, flap and fly. She would probably say the same about your eggs or just about anyone's here on BYC. But some of the people in my area are not as pampering to their chickens as we are. I think that results in inferior eggs. Happy chickens give great eggs!! ❤️

Ok. I like your secret. I can do that 😉.

I've had a few fellow keepers ask me how my unwashed eggs were so clean. I could not figure out how theirs were so dirty...

My chicken are not the snuggling kind. They have a great life and would like us to stay out of the way and allow them to live it. They put up with us because we clean their coop, give them treats and provide a steady supply of food and clean water. They say, that's our job, just stick to that and all will be well, and we'll give you some eggs. Thank you very much. 🤣
Same here.

I have experienced the local roos crowing without any regard for time of day or night.
