After alot of reading on here about treats for my chickens I fixed them a plate of 1- chopped banana, 2- tbls of plain yogurt & one slice of american cheese all mixed together & they were VERY happy & the plate was clean before they went to roost. I'm feeding them crumble right now but when this 50lb is about gone I'm going to switch to pellets. Just to much waste with crumble. I also bought 25lb of scratch as it's turning off cold here and I read where scratch will raise their body temp. I do know my chickens drink quite a bit of water, lol.

mine get scratch all year long... we eat corn in the summertime and I never notice it making me any hotter. lol.

hand picked dandelions AGAIN. AND My goodness my chickens and ducks are tyrant bosses! Today when I was doing a bit of shoveling, no particular reason - just that the birds seemed to enjoy watching me shovel (lol) When I finally had enough and paused for a break, my most shy duck came up and poked the shovel as if to say "break time is over! back to work!"

I work in a hospital so I have access to wasted patient food trays. I scrape them and feed the scraps to the chickens. So it was meatloaf, mashed potates, gravy and corn and don't forget the Jell-o.

Mine got lots of yummy stuff today!!

Chickens strips, pigs in the blanket, crackers, & bread. Then hubby came home from work and brought them a whole plate of spaghetti & meat balls!! Plus they got their reg laying pellets, BOSS & scratch plus they free ranged all day!!
