This time I named my hens-all are pets:
In pecking order(as far as I can determine it):
Isabella-she has taken over the job of trying to be the rooster & crows pathetically once in a while.
Blackie-first one I named-original-huh? She has 2 spurs-I LOVE black stars-so full of personality
Giselle-her neck is darker than her body-reminded me of a graceful ballerina(yes-a hen reminded me of ballerina-you can see where we're going here...
Phyllis-she has one spur & is partially bald-not very ladylike, so I named her after Phyllis Diller.
Daisy-the prettiest of the bunch, & most tame (they are now getting better...Daisy and Isabella both took a little scratch out of my hand for the first time yesterday).
Mabel-also very pretty, but kinda plain (her comb is still growing in-I would say they are all probably between 6 to 8 months). Mabel LOVES picking on the newcomers:
Henrietta-because it's pretty to say & downhome with personality-like hens are.
Maureen-production red, & I'm reading a biography of Maureen O'Hara right now...
Paige-while not a red head (& not related) Paige O'Hara voiced my favorite Disney heroine, Belle, & now I have a pair of O'Haras, so that was kinda cute.
Took me a while to decide on these...as you can probably tell, I really enjoy my pet hens. They are really undestimated/misunderstood by people when it comes to their value as pets
So, how/what did you name YOUR pet chickens & how did you decide? (I am assuming all food chickens are either unnamed or called Breakfast, Lunch, or Dinner...)
