What did your chickens do today?

Today my Hens will have to stay inside their coops until my Guests leave. I can't have them pooping all over the place with visitors... I have missed seeing them out romping, it's been a busy week and I am afraid to not lock them up at 8p when it's dark ever since JamJam disappeared, so if we aren't going to be home early, they have to stay inside ....Can't wait to let them out. I hope these "Peeps" don't overstay their visit...I'm bad! I'd really rather spend time with my hens today... hahahahaha

Oh, we're suppose to put them in for guests? Ha! You must be more thoughtful than me.

hahaha, as it turns out...I let them all out and they all sat by the sliding glass door where we were all seating...LOL ... sorry, "guests" that's just the way it goes. Actually, I didn't know if any "kids" were going to show and didn't want them harassing my hens! They kept competing for our attention the whole afternoon. It was hysterical...

Well as of today all my big girls started laying! I got 2 precious pullet eggs from my SLW's and 4 from my RSL's! They got crickets as a treat for their hard work.

I also got another egg that's either what some people dub a fart egg or...one of my banty's lays a really dark brown egg. It's several shades darker than any egg I've gotten so far. LOVE MY GIRLS!!

That coin is the size of a quarter. It was the only coin I had handy at the time as I brought it home from work the other day. lol

My older chicken died of egg laying problems and now I only have one. She follows me around the yard and when I sit down she jumps on my lap. She also perches on the arm of my lawn chair when I sit outside to watch her. She is very healthy and doing well but I think she needs a chicken friend.

Yeah. that's how my first chicken died... Still miss her.

I had a video, but I can't find it. My Nephew shared with me that the Rabbit, inside the chicken coop eating the Rabbit feed. The 2 Pullets both tried to go in and the Rabbit put both front paws in the dish as to say NO and waited til they backed off...too funny. Wish I could find it, I'd post it for you. The Rabbit tunnels under everything but always stays in their yard. It's been 3 yrs now

Lala chickie that would really be a cute video! I think we have decided foe space purposes ( we are up to 7 bunnies, 4adult rabbits, and 20 chicken/chicks as f yesterday) that we will add another 16 x16 (possibly 24x24 if hubby will let me!) run to the current coop and run so we can put them together vs building a separate pen. Now I have to figure out how to keep them from eating each others food!

Today my chickens will get rewormed. Sounds like they'll be having fun, eh? Might be it's me that'll be having fun trying to catch 'em.

I promised to give them (and me,

) a treat when I'm done.

Update on Greenie: Greenie is doing MUCH better. She is eating and drinking and noticeably more active. She is allowed to run around when I'm outside everyday, so I can keep an eye on her. Her head is healing, the scab is getting smaller. She DOES NOT like me to catch her but she DOES keep me in site. She's gotten pretty brave and goes all over the front yard but she doesn't stray too far away. I noticed that she usually comes when I call her - I say "come on, come on..." and when she gets me in site, she comes running! So maybe her trust is returning little by little.
And today - she LAID HER EGG!

First egg since the attack several weeks ago! Now today, she gets a dose of wormer, too.

Oh that's such good news about Greenie!! Healing, in good spirits, and now an egg!! She is just doing fantastic! Glad that she's sticking close by you, as that's a good sign. Maybe she's just going to be your special chicken friend & you'll be her special chicken friend. How is her eye, the one that you thought she might have lost? Last time I checked, she was opening her eyelid a little but you couldn't tell if the eye was gone. She's on her way!! Good job, chicken mom...and

I left the coop open at bed time because the chickens were still in the yard. The 2 bottom hens and the rooster went to bed as normal but my alpha hen would not consider going to bed until the coop was secure.
