What did your chickens do today?

Today my flock grew by one. I got a bird that needed rehomed and he is probably one of the sweetest roos I've ever seen. He isn't afraid of strangers, doesn't mind being carried or picked up. He's also very vocal and can make some sounds I haven't heard before.

Onyxia laid her very first egg today. Her egg is our first ever home grown egg. We're very proud.

Congratulations on your first egg. How old is Onyxia? I have a BSL and she still hasn't layed. She is 25-26 weeks and has a bigger comb than Onyxia. Where did she lay it? In the coop or elsewhere?

I know this is about what is happening today, but yesterday was weirder.
The smoke from the bush fires blocked the sky out, ash rained down and the sun went red.
It was like something out of an apocalypse movie.
Felt for all those who lost property and animals in it.

Today, our chickens had a visit from the neighbor's goats. They were not happy campers. The goats couldn't get into the run, but the chickens didn't know that! Hence the cackling, squawking, and general uproar! The goats, of course, were only interested in the feed that they saw but couldn't reach. Greenie's pen was open and she was SCARED to death. Hid in the corner until I went to chase the goat out. Ms. Goat WAS eating her feed! Poor chickies! Mr. Roo was probably the most "chicken". lol.

Not chickens but "redbirds" .... the Cardinals are going to the World Series!!! Go Cards!!

I think they are still working on them, but the weather conditions are better to fight them. Poor people that lost so much in those fires. My heart goes out to you.
