What did your chickens do today?

Rain, rain, rain. Then we finally had a sunny day!
They got the full deal bathtime and a chance to nap and bake dry in the sun :)

My girls came outside for the first time in the rain! Last night I hung a cabbage in the run not knowing it would rain today, and they ate the entire thing today! (In the rain... Usually the hide when it rains)

Today my babies will be moving in with the big girls..divided of course. We will see how that goes! And my sussex chicks will be going outside to the coop for the first time!

my girls are really getting use to me and I have them in a homemade run fence and they where right next to me as I was working on the new coop. I am learning they are the boss. I believe they are telling me to pay them more attention. 2 of them flew up grabbed a hold of the top area fence and reached through and pecked me and took my hand. I think they wanted more treats. Guess what they won and I put the drill down and went inside and got them some grapes.

Last night I had my 11 week old chicks out with the big girls, and at dusk the big girls all went into their coop. The babies as I call them were waiting for me to bring them in, thier still in my house waiting for the new coop to be finished. I was washing my hands and when I turned around my EE Harlet came running at me flew up grabbed onto my shirt and climed up to my shoulder, she must of been scared because it was it was the first time she was out at dusk. I was happy because she does not like to be held so I finally got to cuddle with that beautiful girl.

that is awesome minus the scared part.

We moved "the girls" (6 Black Australorp girls) and "little feathers" (5 Black Australorps and 5 Welsummers, all straight run) into bigger pens, to welcome our "new fuzzies" (11 Buff Orphington girls). I'm so happy to finally have them here!! None of my babies are big enough to tell apart yet, so each little batch I've brought in has adopted a group name.

Silly I know, but Josh knows exactly which batch I'm talking about if he wasn't out with me to enjoy my daily routine with all my feathered kids.

And now the girls and little feathers have all learned to watch me very closely when I come out the back door. They stand real close to the gate watching my every move. They were all treated to a bunch of worms yesterday and the day before, as we've been working in the gardens. They've even started taking the worms directly from my hand!!

Thank you so much. She is my favorite :) Though she is a bit pecky......so my son and boyfriend keep calling her "dinner".
