What did your chickens do today?

I had to do the same thing with my new chicks when I put them in the coop. It was like they didn't know how to go out into the run or back into the coop. After a few days of picking them up and putting them in and out, they figured it out and now go out in early a.m. and in before sunset like clockwork. They should be fine.

I am a smoker... (Yes I know bad bad bad) However my "kids" left me a not-so-subtle hint as to what they thought of my stinky habit!

Oh my! Well, I didn't know what saddles were either. LOL. Is this why most of my hens don't have any feathers on their backs? I know that Mr. Roo is pretty rough. How are the saddles attached? And what are they made of? Looks like cloth and I'm guessing I could make some pretty easily... (I'm all new at this, too, ya know!)

Maybe I could sell them on here? (That is, if I can make them! haha)
Here's a tutorial

My day old baby chicks played Queen Under the Hill. It's the opposite of King of the Hill. They were cold and piled on one another. When the top chick fell off, she burrowed under the pile and knocked the next top one off.

I did lower the light and cover the brooder and they appear comfortable now. Dozing, eating drinking and moving about.
